The city's light glowed brightly, like they always did

The city's light glowed brightly, like they always did. The overcast inky sky reflecting the colourful shine off the grey clouds. A gentle hym lingered within the streets of New York City, overrun by people, by life. It was a sea of colour, the greens of thiving trees, the blue luminescence of electricity and the passing blur of faces. From up high everything seemed miniature, the people, the buildings. From the view of the 93rd floor of the Avengers Tower, the rest of the world appeared small.

However, inside the 93rd floor of the Avengers Tower loud music reverberated throughout the spacious interior. It rattled around the high ceilings and drummed in the hearts of the people scattered around the space. (Y/N) smiled kindly at Steve. Her white teeth gleaming through her parted red lips as she chuckled politely at the older mans antics. She and Steve sat side by side on the small love seat nearest the large window, his arm around the back of the couch so he could face her, the city lights twinkling behind his broad silohhutte.

"You never quite get used to Tony's parties do you?" He questioned.

"No, not really." (Y/N) smiled back at him before taking a big sip from her glass. "But the more you go to the easier it gets to be able to slip out unnoticed."

Steve laughed heartedly. "Trust me, doll. If you slipped out of here I think everyone would notice."

"What's that supposed to mean, Rogers?" She questioned, inquisitively, an eyebrow raised and her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Uh, n-nothing, (Y/N)." Steve stammered out, the tips of his ears turning red.

"Calm down, Steve. I'm just messing with you." (Y/N) beamed at him. "I just like seeing you get all flustered. It's cute."

Steve hid a smile behind his glass as he took a swig. "I hate you, (Y/N)."

The girl laughed. "Sure you do, Stevie." She leaned back against the soft cushion, her arm gently resting against his. "We all know that I'm secretly your favorite."

"I wish I could say that you weren't."

"Please." (Y/N) snorted as she softly hit his chest. "You love me."

"Yeah." He answered, his eyes staring heatedly at the remainder of his drink. "I do." He whispered under his breath as he brought the glass closer to his lips once again.

"(Y/N)!" A voice called out, it was cool, calm and crisp against the heavy bass of the music.

"Loki." She answered, her gaze turning to face the god. "How may I be of service, my love?" She questioned, her lips turning up dangerously.

Loki glared at her slightly, his eyes shifting between her and the soldier. He narrowed his stare, peering at the pair more intently this time. (Y/N) rolled her eyes at her boyfriend, moving to stand at his side. "I must have a word with (Y/N)." He said coldly, his glare now turned soley onto Steve. He gently placed his hand against (Y/N)'s arm, pulling her closer to his body.
"If you'll excuse us."

Steve nodded curtly, getting up and straightening out his shirt. "I'll see you later, (Y/N)."

She nodded.

Loki's fingers slid down her arm and caught her wrist, his cold fingers gripping her with conviction as he began walking away from the party and towards the bedrooms.

"I hate seeing other, inferior mortals, trying to woo you." Loki said, his words dripping with anger as the door to their bedroom closed behind him. He pulled her closer to him once again, his hands coming to rest against her waist.

"Woo me?" (Y/N) clarified, one eyebrow raising in a questioning glare.

"Yes." He answered. Loki's jaw tightened, his fingers gripped her waist harsher in his hold. She squirmed out of his clutches and rolled her eyes. Her hand brushing away the loose curl that fell flush against her prickly skin.

"I am not a prize to be won, Loki. I am a person, with feelings and a conscience and I can be courted by whomever I wish to be courted by." Her voice was calm, however the edges were dripping with warning.

"And who, pray tell, do you wish to be courted by, Lady (Y/N), if not me?" He smirked reassuringly to himself, his words saturated with venomous, sly arrogance. His eyebrows furrowing harshly, casting a shadow over his agony filled eyes as he studied her.

"That's the problem. I do not wish to be courted by anyone else but you! But sometimes you let jealousy get the better of you and you forget that I only want you."

"So," (Y/N) smirked. "In case you have forgotten. Let me remind you."

(Y/N) pushed the god back on their shared bed with one hand, mischief in her eyes. Loki peered at her through lust filled eyes, pupils dilating with need. She smiled down at the man, legs crawling up onto the soft mattress, coming to rest either side of Loki's hips. His hand tenderly venturing up her thighs. (Y/N) brought his fave to hers. Her lips pressing lightly against his before retreating.

"I am yours, Loki. Only yours." She whispered the words, as if they were a secret. Her voice was delicate and afraid of rejection and Loki cursed at himself for making her feel so insecure.

He glanced at (Y/N), fingers caressing her tender jaw, thumb running over her dangerously red lips. He lowered his voice, leveled his vocal chords and spoke with a husky conviction. "I am yours, as you are mine, my love."

(Y/N) trembled under his gaze, fire igniting within her soul, his trailing fingers suddenly feeling cooler under her feverish skin. Loki's strong hands straddled the girl's petite ribcage, resting lovingly on the soft skin, right where her heart hammered, wildly in her chest. He kept his gaze directed at the girl, eyes sparkling with the love he felt so deeply for her and he smiled, a true smile. Not a smirk nor a sly grin, but a real one, filled with warmth and contentment.

It was the kind of smile that made endless possibilities seem possible, that anything was plausible. A smile that wars would be waged over, simply for its beauty. Crows feet wrinkled at the corners of his eyes, dimples complimenting the edges of his grin. It was a smile that (Y/N) wished with all her being that she could forever be at the receiving end of.

"I love you." She said, like it was simple.

"I love you too, (Y/N)." He breathed back, because maybe it was.

Loki rested his head against her chest, relaxed and comforted, for the first time in a long time. They didn't move, or speak, instead they just stayed wrapped in each others arms, completely at peace, feeling whole and loved. Loki sighed, breathing slowing to match (Y/N)'s and smiled once again, feeling elated in knowing that her heart beat for him, and only for him.
