Author's Note
Alright guys! This is it, the final chapter.
I won't hold you up too much, but I just wanted to thank you all. MGE has been by far the less popular of my fanfiction works, but it's arguably one of the most fun for me to write. Thank you all for bearing with all the boring science parts, and taking the time to learn about ZanaTale Sans' backstory. It means a lot to me, especially some of you stuck around even though I went on hiatus for a whopping SIX MONTHS.
I love and appreciate you all, and your support is a huge part of the reason I came back in the first place.
That's all for the sappy stuff. But before you start reading, there's one thing you should know. I also included "When All Else Fails" in this chapter--it was originally meant to be a oneshot, but since it fits in so nicely with the ending of MGE, I put it in here, too. So if you've already read that, feel free to skip it.
Again, thank you all! And I hope you enjoy what's left of MGE. :-)

???????????
...
I don't know what to say.
I...
...
I somehow managed to return to the world. But... it was...
Different.
Much different.
I...
I've been forgotten.
All trace of my existence erased from the world.
Not even my sons...
...
There is really nothing left for me. Even this journal is beginning to run out of paper.
And once I run out of paper, just how long will it be until my sanity crumbles?
But... I'll tell you what I've learned, while my mind is still clear.
This place... this... "astral plane..." holds all varying timelines this universe contains. It's just as I theorized—every decision leads to new events, leading to even more new events... leading to whole new universes. There are an infinite amount of timelines, just as there are an infinite amount of choices we each can make.
However, in each one... I no longer exist.
At first, I thought it was just my own timeline. But I searched through other ones, and it's all the same—I no longer exist. I never did exist. My past has been... erased. It's as if Sans and Papyrus came from nowhere, and Alphys was always royal scientist. My assistants' families have forgotten their own children...
Everything is...
Gone.
And... I can see everything. The past, present, and future. I'm omnipotent.
I had to watch my sons grow up without being a part of their lives.
Sans wasn't untouched by the incident—he seems to be able to teleport, bending the laws of physics. And, of course, there's the memory loss.
I'm grateful to Asgore for taking care of them. He found an abandoned house in Snowdin, and lets them live there free of rent.
They've made friends, and have established themselves well into the community.
