Welp... here we go again. Day 30 of blueprints and boredom. Oh... wait a sec. When was this thing last updated?! October?! What has Dr. G been doing?! Gosh. The doc sure has shirked on the record keeping side of things, hasn't he? I'm surprised—he's usually the kind of guy that's on top of these things. Well... uh... in that case, you wouldn't know what's goin' on, would you? I guess I need to catch you up. Let's see... what was the last thing you were told? Sans broke the magic tester thingy, and he can apparently bleed. Right. Welp, I don't have anything to say about that. S'not my specialty, ya' see? But in any case, I'll tell you what I do know.
Dr. G's workin' on a new project. Actually... I guess it's not really new. He's been thinkin' about it for a loooong time now, but he only started workin' on it in late October. You've probably already heard of it. The T5. Now, that's not its full name 'course, but-uh... I really don't feel like spelling it out for you. Have you seen that thing? It's, like... 5 words long, and it makes less sense then a fire elemental livin' in waterfall!
But-uh... anyway, that's what he's workin' on at the moment. Or, should I say, we're working on. Carl and I've been working just as hard as he has. I hate it, but at least Carl seems happy. See, we're still in the blueprint stage right now—probably will be for the next coupla' months—and I can't stand it. I wanna build somethin'! All this... this theorizing and equating and... and whatever else is driving me nuts! If it were up to me, I'd just let the two geniuses work on all that quantum mechanics shiz by themselves, but noooooo. I've gotta be there to help draw the blueprints, and make sure that the thing is mechanically stable. I mean... sure, it's cool that I get to help, but... come on. Do I really have to sit in the corner while they write and rewrite all the math junk, waiting on standby until they eventually need me?
Actually, that's what's goin' on right now. Those two eggheads are both slumped over a table, talking a whole 'nother language and scribbling somethin' just as foreign. And what am I doin?' Well, I'm just hangin' out in the corner, writing in the journal that Dr. G's apparently neglected. I wish Sans'd drop by. He always makes things entertaining in some way or another. Or, better yet, Katrina could drop by. Yeah... Katrina's always really nice to me, and she's fun to talk to. I wonder if she...? Nah. Nah, I'm just imagining stuff. What kind of smart cookie like that would wanna hang around a grease monkey like me?
But like I was sayin,' I'm just killin' time over in the corner, talkin' to y'all 'bout stuff you probably don't even care about. ...That's a depressing thought. Alright, alright. Sorry, y'all. I should stop complaining. Despite whatever ya' think, I did actually have a reason for writing. Dr. G thinks that this new project of his is a really big deal, and so I figured that y'all future people would want to know more about it. Now, as much as I hate all this plannin' stuff... it's probably necessary. Why? Well, this project... it's pretty darn cool. If we get it ta' work, we'll be changing the world. No, hold on—we'll be changing the whole stinkin' universe. See, what the T5 is meant to do... is travel to other timelines. Some of you may be askin' what the heck a timeline is. Don't feel too bad. That was my initial reaction, too. So I'm gonna try and explain it to you the way the doc explained it to me.
So ya' see, you've gotta think of time as a river. It has a main body, and then divides itself into little tributaries and things along its course. The time that we're in right now is that main body—the main timeline. However, whenever we make an important decision, a tributary is created—an alternate timeline. See, for every decision we make, there's also a bunch of other decisions we could've made, but didn't. Those other decisions then get their own branches in the stream, and their own future sequence of events.
