I was in dad's office when he walked in."Well," I asked.
He smiled which meant one thing, we were heading to the playoffs. I smile big. This was huge for us.
As everyone came in to change into their uniforms, I waited in dad's office until they were done. Then he gave me the signal that I could come out.
I walked out and stood next to him.
"Okay, boys, I've got some news," he announced.
They looked at him with anticipation.
"I've just got news Mason High school has been disqualified, which means we are in the playoffs!"
With those words, everyone whooped and hollered. Finn rushed over and picked me up, swinging me around, being careful with my broken arm.
"Now, let's get out there and give a good practice. We got games to win," dad yelled and the guys ran out of the locker room with excitement.
Finn puts me down and gave me a kiss, "What was that for?"
"Because you helped get us here," he smiled. "And I love kissing my girlfriend." This made me smile.
He grabbed my other hand and lead me out of the locker room. I watched them practice. They were tight and they looked good.
I drafted a play and showed it to dad. He looked at it, "You sure about this?"
"Positive," I answered.
"Max, it's tricky."
"Dad, you always told me, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone if you want to win," I said with determination.
He gave me a smile and said, "Yeah, I did. Okay, we'll work on it." He gave me a kiss on top of the head and walked out onto the field. He showed the guys the play.

Coach showed us a play that Max came up with and we looked at each other. It was a tricky play and depended on all of us working together."Are you sure, Coach?" Luke asked.
He looked at us and answered, "I trust my daughter. If she knows this play will work, it will work. But you're all going to need to work together on it."
I looked at him and the others then said, "Let's try it. Better to know if it works now than later."
We put the play in action and let's just say, it took some time to execute it. We practice it over and over, with each time falling a little short.
Finally, the coach called it and we made our way back to the locker room. I walked over to Max.
"Sorry, Max," I mumbled.
"It's okay. It's just a play," she shrugged.
I knew she was disappointed that we couldn't execute the play like she was hoping. They guys just weren't there yet, but I was hoping they would be.

We went into the playoffs, knowing we had to play hard. As for the play, I got it. It was something that was out of their comfort zone. No matter how many times Finn tried to reassure me, it still didn't mean I wasn't disappointed. I knew they were capable of executing that play.As the playoffs kicked off, we had to go against eight of the best high school teams out there. These weren't just any teams. These were the ones that had pounded us before. Only this time, we had a special weapon, my dad.
