After the entertaining night at Cotillion Daniel and Victoria have to go back to Vernelle. The trip there is quite pleasant, the seas seem extra calm and Victoria is very grateful for that.
"What do you think they'll say?" Daniel asks as the outline of Vernelle appears on the horizon
"It depends on who we talk to" Victoria smiles "my father will definitely be thrilled to have Uma around"
"He will?" Daniel asks surprises
"He likes Uma, he doesn't really like Evie but he does likes Mal" Victoria explains "besides Uma has always been kind to him so..." she shrugs and he nods. They stay in silence until the ship docks and they descend the plank onto the docks and firm land, at last. Victoria turns to look at the sea before her, hoping, praying that Uma is alright.
"I hope Uma likes Vernelle" Victoria smiles
"We don't even know if she'll come" Daniel points out
"She'll come" Victoria says matter of fact
"How do you know?" Daniel asks
"Because we're family and right now she won't be able to get by without it" Victoria smiles "so have the guards on high alert Jeremy"
"Yes my queen" Jeremy says and bows
"I expect this year to be very exciting" Victoria smiles and they make their way to the castle.
"More interesting than Cotillion?" Daniel asks
"Far more" Victoria says "Uma will be here, Harry is still somewhere out there, I doubt we've heard the end of him yet; but most importantly... we have a wedding to celebrate"
"Oh really?" Daniel asks raising his eyebrow "who's?"
"Ours" Victoria blushes and hands him a black box "Daniel of Maldonia, will you marry me?"
"Well this is all so sudden" Daniel says falsely fanning himself "such news in such short notice. I'll have to think about it"
"Don't you dare" Victoria growls playfully and he scoops her up into a hug
"I wouldn't dream of it" he smiles "yes" he whispers in her ear "I'll marry you"
"I love you, you big dork" she smiles and they join foreheads
"But I'm your dork" he smiles and slips the ring on "forever" Victoria laughs and so does he. The walk hand in hand the rest of the way, smiles plastered to their faces. This year will indeed be full of excitement and endless surprises in store.
