It's almost ten at night when Victoria and Evie have finished swapping stories. Doug left to his room hours before saying he had to catch up on homework.
"Do you think Ben actually forgave me?" Victoria asks nervously
"Surprisingly he did" Evie says and gives her a small smile "he understood why you did it. After you left he had a lot of time to think about what had happened. Everything that had seemed strange to him was suddenly, clear. When we first arrived at Auradon we were all scared, we didn't know what would happen. Mal even thought they would kill us as well. That they had gotten tired of villains"
"So Ben spent days in his office searching through his own memory and realizing that our fear was due to his parents fault. After everything sank in he apologized to us and to the whole school. He helped them see our pain, Victoria. It was amazing" Evie smiles at the memory "of course not everyone was convinced but they couldn't go against Ben, not outright anyway, but most did get manage to forgive you"
"I'm glad" Victoria says "I would've felt even more terrible if I had left you alone with the wolves" she laughs and Evie does too
"It's late Evie. Get some rest" Victoria hugs her and Evie hugs her back
"The one that worries me is Mal" Evie confesses during the hug
"She's strong Evie" Victoria smiles "she'll know what to do"
On that note Victoria says goodbye again and goes to her own room and throws herself on her bed
"You should change my Queen" Jeremy says as Victoria starts to fall asleep. She jerks up and rubs her eyes
"Fine" she grumbles and changes into her night clothes "good night Jeremy" she yawns and falls asleep instantly. The next morning she's woken by frantic knocking on her door.
Frightened, Victoria rushes to the door and opens it to find Evie, tear stricken in the hall. Victoria pulls her inside and closes the door. She pulls her into a hug and waits for Evie to be a bit more calm
"Evie what happened?" She asks at last
"It's Mal" Evie sobs "she's gone back to the isle"
"What?!" Victoria asks and leads Evie to her bed where they sit down
"I woke up this morning and found a note on my dresser" Evie hands her said note and Victoria reads it
"I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore I'm going back to the isle. Tell Ben goodbye" Victoria looks at Evie who is wiping away her tears with the back of her hand, Victoria pulls a tissue from her nightstand and hands it to her
"What are we going to do?" Evie asks and dabs carefully at her makeup
"Well we have to tell Ben" Victoria says and she nods "give me five minutes to change" she nods again and Victoria changes into some jeans, a red one shoulder shirt, a black leather jacket, brown boots and black fingerless gloves. She has a feeling a visit to the isle is near.
"Lets go" Victoria says and they head to Ben's room. Jeremy follows behind protecting his Queen. They knock on Ben's door and open it. Ben hangs up the phone and looks up at them with a smile, it quickly disappears when he sees their faces
"Evie, Victoria what's wrong?" He asks seriously
"Mal's gone back to the isle" Victoria says and Evie hands him the note along with his ring that he gave to Mal
"This is all my fault" Ben says sadly "I yelled at her yesterday, I let the beast get the better of me" he pauses, looking devastated "she tried so hard and I just blamed her for failing"
"It's not your fault" Evie says "Mal is just confused that's all"
"I have to get her back" Ben says
"Ben you can't go to the isle" Victoria says in a warning tone "the people over there don't really like you"
"I don't care, I drove her away" Ben says "I have to make things right"
"Then we'll go with you" Evie says quietly "but you have to promise me something Ben" Ben nods and waits for her to continue
"Promise me that I will not get stuck there" Evie is close to crying be again "promise me that I will come back"
"I promise Evie" Ben says and Evie gives him a small sad smile
"Are you sure you want to go?" Victoria asks Evie "I'll go alone with Ben"
"No, Mal is my best friend" Evie says firmly "and we'll get the guys to come with us because there's safety in numbers"
"Of course" Victoria nods
"And you have to change Ben" Evie says
"I know" Ben agrees "I'll be more patient and understanding with Mal I'll give her more time"
"I meant your outfit" Evie explains "you can't go to the isle dressed like that" Ben looks at Victoria who nods in agreement
"You get Ben some proper clothes and I'll go tell the boys" Victoria says making a plan "we'll meet at the limo in fifteen"
