Chapter 5 - You bring out a side I never knew I had...

Music of Inspiration - Broken Things by Juliet Turner

(~Still in Lucian's POV~)

After we arrived home, settling Evangeline into her new room, I spoke to Cole about the 'dream' that I saw. Even though neither of us could read her mind, the dream that she showed me could possibly answer some questions.

I then went upstairs to Evangeline's room to check on her. She was fast asleep in the bed. The maids had changed her into a white lace nightdress. The bed quilt was at her waist, one arm raised beside her head by her hair spread across the pillow. As I took a seat beside her bed in an armchair, she moved her head so she faced me instead of the ceiling, a small smile forming on her lips.

She really was beautiful... more than beautiful. I got a vibe from her in moments like this ... when she was smiling, even in her sleep. That vibe showed power... and the vibe I was getting from her was strong enough to knock me off me feet. But it was contained... for whatever reason. Seems to match the instinct she had of hiding all her negative feelings... She contains them within herself like the power that is there... I wonder if she is aware of it...

As I trailed off in thought, I noticed that, still asleep, she sat up in head, got onto her knees facing me in the chair. I straightened up in the chair and waited curiously for her next move. She crawled to the edge of the bed right infront of me, I leaned forward slightly subconsciously. She kneeled infront of my and leaned forward.

I froze as her soft hands worked their way up from hands, up my arms, my neck and finally settled on my face. She began to trace the features and the designs of my face whispering in her unknown language. I closed my eyes and sighed. Electric currents were running from all over my face and through my face.

I heard her take in a breath, "Lucian" she whispered with a sigh. I inhaled in her scent opening my eyes. Two dark blue-grey orbs stared back at me. She had a small smile on her face, her eyes seemed to dance. I couldn't help but smile back.

I rarely smiled. Or laughed for that matter. Only maybe around Cole, but even that was rare. This girl had given me a small smile and she had me grinning back! Something else to add to the list and monitor; people's reactions to her.

"Can I call you Luke?" Her whispered question brought me out of my thoughts. I was taken back, nobody ever wanted to nickname me.

"As long as I get to call you Angie?" I replied. Her eyes lit up more, yellow coming into her eyes, her smile widened.

"Okay." She nodded.

We sat there for a while just looking at each other. She really was beautiful. Inhumanly beautiful. Without my consent, my hands reached up and began tracing her features with my fingertips. She sighed and closed her eyes as a shiver ran down her back. She leant into my touch. More of the 'electric current' ran through my fingers as I touched her skin.

I glided my hands down her neck, over her shoulders, arms and then tenderly took hold of her hands. She opened her eyes and watched me as I gently tugged on her hands, pulling her towards me.

She took the hint and crawled into my lap. Her head rested on my shoulder, one hand rested gently on my chest while the other held onto my hand that was around her back, my other hand rested on her cheek, my thumb making circles there. She sighed again still whispering her silent prayers. They died away as she fell back to sleep in my arms.

I don't understand why I had the urge to hold this girl, or young woman should I say. But maybe it was something that was not meant to be understood...
