Devastating News

Jake's POV

I am really worried about Erika. Something really isn't right. When I picked her up she told me about what had happened with her brother and about how she almost fainted. I told her we are going to the doctor immediately.

When we arrived at the doctor I signed her in and then we sat in the waiting room for a long time. Erika had fallen asleep by the time we got called back. I picked her up and carried her to the room. The nurse took all of Erika's vitals and then left the room. She told me the doctor would be in shortly.

Five minutes later the doctor walked in.

(D: Doctor)

D: So what seems to be the problem.

J: Erika had been getting shortness of breath a lot lately and when we were at the hospital the other day we were told that she has a heart problem.

D: Ok. Im going to have todo some test to determine the problem. But by the looks of it this could be pretty serious. Please don't tell Erika that right now. I don't want he freaking out. It could really effect her heart a lot.

J: Ok. Do you want me to wake her up?

D: Yes please.

I wake up Erika by giving her a kiss on her forehead. When she wakes up she looks a little confused. So I filled her in on what is happening. The doctor drew some blood and left the room.

About 10 minutes later the doctor walks in and askes if he can talk to me outside really quickly. When we step outside he says:

D: Jake, Im sorry but its worse then we thought. She has a disease called Interstitial lung disease. Its a disease that effects her lungs. There is really nothing we can do but put her on medication and try to slow dow the effects of the disease. We are also going to have to look for a lung donor. If her wants to live longer then maybe 20 she is going to have to get a lung transplant.

J: I don't know what to say. I don't know how I'm going to tell her. She is going to be devastated.

D: That's not all.

J: wait what!!!!!!

D: Ya. When the nurse check her heart she has an irregular heart beat and we are going to have to put a chip near her heart that can detect her heart beat. There is an app you can download where if something does happen to her heart you and anyone else who have the app will be able to know if something does go wrong. It will give you alerts if it thinks something is wrong.

J: .....

D: Im so sorry Jake. We are going to have to do the surgery for the chip tonight. We have already contacted her mom and she is on the way.

I slowly walk into the room and I see Erika starting at me, looking scared. I look at her and tell her what the doctor has just told me. In the middle of my telling her, she burst into tears. I didn't know what else to go but go and comfort her.

After about 5 minutes she fell asleep on my shoulder. 10 minutes after she fell asleep her mom walked in along with her brother.

How was that chapter? What do you think is going to happen to Erika? What about Jake and Erika's brother? I guess your going to have to ring out in the next chapter.
