41 | Too Close

Jae's POV

Just before our lips could touch, Jenae quickly clasped her hand over her mouth.

I wasn't surprised, so I played it off as I leaned closer towards her ear, "My bad," I whispered.

I then got off of her and her face was flushed.

"Uh..." She said lowly as she sat up. "Can we go to sleep? Right now?"

I chuckled and spared her a smile. "Sure."

I aimed to get in her bed but Jenae quickly moved and grabbed a large blanket nearby.

"You can spread this on the sofa," She said before grabbing a pillow and handing it. She fetched another blanket, "And to cover yourself."

I took them and she immediately submerged underneath her blankets.

"Goodnight! Please turn off the light." I heard her mumble from under her sheets.

"Okay," I responded and did as told.

Well, maybe she isn't comfortable with me yet...

I got up and turned off the lights before laying down on the sofa and covering myself.

"Goodnight," I heard her say again and I said, "Goodnight. Sleep well."

I glanced at the mound Jenae was under and chuckled to myself before closing my eyes.

I then heard sheets moving and felt a pair of eyes scanning me over.

I took a glimpse over at her and she quickly laid back down. I then closed my eyes again and breathed a little heavier on purpose.

I heard sheets fall again and the eyes returned therefore I asked, "Can't sleep?"

I could sense her jump and lay back down.

There was a moment of silence.

"Can you?" She asked in return.

"How can I sleep when you're making so much noise?" I asked and turned my back to her to mask the grin on my face.

I checked my watch, "It's only 10:30PM."
