Jae
I stared at Jenae's limp body in my arms for a moment as the world seemed to stop around me. My throat was dry and I could only stare as shock coursed through my body.
There was blood slowly staining her jet black curls to a dreadful crimson red.
The sound of the culprit who caused this snapped me from my daze as he ran downstairs.
"Stop him!!" I shouted out loud enough as to where I knew Tyliah would've heard.
I felt a little ease when I heard quickened footsteps following after him.
I then focused my attention back on Jenae, shaking her body lightly. "Jenae. Jenae?"
There was no sign of her responding to me.
I hoisted her up and brought her upstairs outside her apartment. I didn't have the key, so I sat her down appropriately as I thought.
I heard footsteps running up the stairs and Jessica appeared with Essence.
"What the fuck?!" She cussed as she dropped her bags. "What happened!? Jenae!" She shouted as she kneeled down to where we were.
"She was pushed..." I said slowly, "Down the stairs... she's not... moving. I don't know... if I... do I... call a ambulance?"
Jessica gave me the same look of bewilderment that I once had and in that same moment Jenae's phone started to ring from her pocket.
I picked it up as soon as I saw it was her sister, Jennifer calling.
"Is my sister alright!?" She asked.
"She..." I said as I looked at Jenae. "...Got hurt."
My voice came out weak and defeated.
"How hurt?!" Jennifer asked me before cussing, "That son of a bitch! Where'd he go!?"
"Did puppy-dog get hurt!?" I heard Tyliah's voice question in the background.
"Yeah." I heard Jennifer say and Tyliah groaned loudly before yelling, "I'mma kill'em!"
"We ran everywhere... but we couldn't find him..." Jennifer told me, breathlessly.
"It's fine. I got it." I said before hanging up.
A groan came from Jenae's lips and my heart sped up as she called out, "Jae..."
"I'm right here." I said quickly as I took her hand in mine, "Jessica and Essence are gonna take care of you. I'll be right back..."
"Don't go..." Jenae said as she tightened her grip from within my grasp.
