Jae walked into the bar Jenae texted her about. Then she heard her name.
"Aye! Is that you Jae?" called the voice.
She looked over and met the eyes of a old friend from high school. He had a lot less tattoos the last time she saw him.
"James," Jae responded formally.
"It's been so long! Come sit with me," James invited.
Jae glanced over at the entrance before looking back at James.
"Just come sit," He prodded.
Jae then decided not to be mean and made her way to sit across from him.
"Damn... it's been a long minute." James said while dapping her up and she immediately wiped her hand after.
"I haven't seen you since you started college," James chuckled. "It's nice to see you again. How's Darien?"
Jae nodded to assure he was good.
"Why do you look like this-?" Jae asked while eyeing his messy hair accompanied with bags underneath his eyes and he shrugged, "-Me? Ah... I was dating someone and got kicked out of the house because my family ain't like it."
"You got kicked out because of the relationship?" Jae asked to clarify.
"Yeah... I left," He said. "I'd do anything and risk anything for the man I love."
Jae simply stared at him.
The feeling was so foreign to her.
She personally thought he was unintelligent for choosing to leave.
"James, get your shit together and go back home already." Jae said.
James chuckled softly, "Do you even know about love? You had so many girls after another I-" "-Shut up." Jae cut him off, "You're really drunk. Go home."
"You mad?-" "-No. I know you're drunk." Jae said as she went to help him up but he denied, "I'm good. It's been a long time since I last seen you. Let's just chill."
Jenae walked in and once she spotted Jae she made her way over.
"Baby girl! What you doing here?" James chimed and Jenae was surprised to see her neighbor as she sat beside Jae.
