Jenae

I had a bad migraine from a hungover but I still made it to work. I was on lunch break so I grabbed Jessica's favorite latté and as always I found her waiting on me.

I sat down across from her in a booth. "They cut my break shorter, " I mutter.

"It's all good. You remember your drunk ass talking about dropping out of school last night?" Jessica laughed at me.

I groaned and looked at her with a frown, "What? I said that?"

"I knew you wasn't gone remember-" Jessica laughed before she slurped on her latté. "-I've officially gone crazy..." I sigh.

Jess removed something from her pocket and pushed it across the table to me, "Here... take this. It's some extra money I'm not using. Use it for your tuition."

I stared at her before laughing, "My ass... you've been saving this up for a year."

"Not uh- it's only been for 10 months," she smirked and I quickly push it back, "There's no way I'm taking this-" "-Take it!" "You're crazy! How can I-?" "-Just take it! Jenae I really want to go to school with you!-" "-I know you do but-" "-Just take it!" Me and Jessica began to back and forth until I finally grab it, "Fine! But I'm going to pay you back for all of this."

Jessica's phone began to ring and she picked it up, "What's up? Essence?"

I watched her expression twist in disbelief, "What? You're lying..." She then smiled and gazed at me, "Okay. Alright. I got it. Bye." She hung up and I raised a brow, "What? Did something good happen to Essence?"

Jess rested her cheek against her fist and pouts, "I wonder if I should tell you or-" "-You better!" I snap and she laughs, "You've got the full-tuition scholarship."

I stared at her in confusion and she grinned, "Miss Jenae Torres! I just said you've got the full-tuition scholarship!"

Home | Morning

I laid in bed and stared at the envelope in my hand, "How did this happen..."

I eventually got up and got dressed. Arriving to school shortly after I found Jess and Essence waiting on me.

"You so fucking slow! We don't got much time! We've gotta hurry," she grabbed my wrist and quickly dragged me behind her. "What're we rushing for?" I questioned and multiple footsteps quickly followed.

"That!" Jessica yelled and I looked back to see a crowd of kids running for the entrance. "If we don't hurry! There won't be anymore room!" Jessica whined.

Essence took both of our bookbags and we continued to run at full speed, "Hurry! Jenae! Don't make me drag your ass-!" "-You already are!" I yelled and we were the second to first group into the computer room. We sat in the middle and in unison we let out a sigh of relief.

"Nigga we made it!" Jessica sang and the three of us laughed together. "Alright, we're at least going to have one class together! We need to take Professor Hanes class!" Jess declared and we hummed in agreement. "If we get Professor Keiser's class we dead." I groan and Essence hands us our bags.

We quickly registered for the classes we wanted. A couple of minutes passed before we knew what classes we had.

"Fuck yeah!" Jessica yelled and I knew what that meant. I checked mine and Hanes was my first class, "Hell yeah..." I laughed and Essence looked relieved, "We did it."

Our schedules were printed and we left the room with smiles on our faces. Well, except Jessica. She was complaining.

"I'm gonna die! All my class are in the morning. ALL of them! I should just drop out now," she pouts and I laughed at her. "At least you got Professor Hanes class. With us!" I remind her. Essence rubbed Jessica's shoulder, "It's not that bad."

"But Professor Hanes class is the ONLY good one! The rest are trash," she cries.

I was really dying of laughter at this point, "You're seriously crying?! Suck it up!"

"You're one to talk!" She grabbed my schedule and gawked at it, "You goat-mouthed mother fucker! All your classes start late-!" "-Give me that," I laughed. "You're large mad or little mad?"

"Fuck you," she mumbled as we reached the banister of the main stairs.

"Oh shit! Hey, Jae!" Jessica waved at her and she turned around then smiled, "What's up Jessica?"

I awkwardly froze once I heard her voice like usual but I kept my gaze elsewhere.

"Yo, Nae!" Darien's voice snapped my head up and he was approaching us from the elevator, "Congrats on ya' scholarship!" June was walking beside him and I groan. I can't stand seeing this bitch.

"Thanks," I smile at him and June smirked as she made herself comfortable by Jae's side, "You should be thanking Jae."

I straight faced the shit out of her, "What're you talking about?-" "-Bitch if you don't!" Jessica threatened and June laughed, "I'm really being honest this time. She paid off your tuition for the year."

I glanced at Jae and she was quietly looking down at her feet with her hands in her pocket. I've never seen her this way. She looked... innocent. No way! I can't fall for whatever goody goody act she fronts. I know how she really is.

"Uh, let's just go." I heard her say as she pushed Darien ahead of her. She quickly began to walk away with them both but not without looking at me for a second, "It was nice seeing you again Jenae."

I only stared in awe as they walked away.

Jessica looked at me confused, "Jenae? What the fuck just happened?"

If only I knew...
