It is my fifth year at Hogwarts. I am now 16 years old. The Christmas holidays are over and the students are all back at the school. I stayed here over Christmas because I didn't want to go back to that horrid orphanage. I spent my time reading in the library and getting private lessons from Professor Snape. Most of the students are afraid of him but he is the one person in this school I rely on and trust in the most. After all, he is the one that has to lock me up in a cage hidden in his office every night and ignore my taunts and threats until he leaves to his room. we have some sort of weird relationship that is hard to explain. He is the closest I have to family I guess. The changing isn't as painful and hard as it used to be. My throat still burns however but Snape says with age it gets easier. During the day I am a normal witch that attends all her classes but avoids everyone. Out of all the years I have been here so far, I haven't talked to anyone unless it is required in class. Lots of the time I eat my food in my room to stay away from other students. I am technically in the Slytherin house but I have my own private room separate from the Hogwarts houses. This year hasn't been very good with Professor Umbridge around. She is a real stick in the mud. No one likes her especially, Harry Potter. Well, maybe Filch likes her but no one likes him soooo... The absolute worst part of this year is the rumors going around that you-know-who is back. It gives me the creepy crawlies to think about the Dark lord returning. I have heard and seen many things about Professor Umbridge that I wish I didn't. She is old fashioned and wicked. Apparently, she works for the Ministry of Magic but I don't think they really know what she is up to. She may even torture students... However, she hasn't bothered me so that's good. I may keep to myself, but I have my eye on everything that goes on in this school. I have an invisibility cloak that was mysteriously given to me over Christmas two years ago and I use it to sneak around a lot. Unfortunately, I can't sneak around at night or I'll rip the throats out of every student I pass. Not a pretty thought. Today has been another average day. Nothing out of the ordinary has taken place other than Umbridge sticking up a few new laws every now and then. I already attended Transfiguration with Professor Mcgonagall and Potions with Professor Snape. It is lunch break and I am blending in at the end of the Slytherin table where the nerds sit that everyone avoids. There are a few nerds in every house. A few of them have tried talking to me before but I normally shut it down before it becomes a conversation. They know now not to bother me. I usually have a book or something so people won't interrupt. Today however, I sit bored with my elbow on the table and head rested on my palm. I stare down at my food in disgust. The food here is great, I just never have much of an appetite. Losing my interest in my potatoes, I turn my attention to a few Slytherin's using raised voices at the other end of the table. Draco Malfoy and his gang were among them. Typical. I grab my things and exit the dining hall ignoring the noise coming from within. On my way out I collide with a girl wearing the Slytherin colors. We both gasp and I quickly scoop up her books and deposit them into her arms.

"Oh! Thank you." She says.

I immediately notice she also has long black hair but hers is wavy unlike my straight hair and her eyes are and beautiful blue. She looks rather flustered. Perhaps she ran here.

"My name's, Emily, what's yours?" She asks happily.

"Uh..." I wonder if I should tell her. I decide it is safe and blurt out, "Rosetta.. R-Rose for short."

She smiles widely, "Alright Rose, nice bumping into you," She laughs a little before continuing, "Hey, I haven't seen you before. Are you in Slytherin?" She asks eyeing my robes.

"Er, yes I am."

"Huh, we should hang out sometime."

I give her a quick smile before going around her and half jogging away.
