I finished my classes for the day and headed straight for the Slytherin common room. This is a first for me. Normally, I go to my room however, my three new friends will most likely want to hang out until dinner and then I will mysteriously disappear for the evening. I make my way down to our secret door on the right side of the Entrance Hall. I get there and wonder what our password is. We seem to rotate between a few. I try "Pureblood" and of course, it works. The Slytherin common room is made up of stone and green furniture. The chairs are green and so are our lamps. It feels both royal and cold. Naturally, it is cold because it is in the dungeons and right outside our windows is the water of the lake. I stroll in knowing I have beat all the other students here. I choose a plush leather chair and sink into it before cracking open a book about a heroine that saves the man. It doesn't take long before I hear a group of boys marching into the room. I glance up from my book without moving my head to see Crabbe and Goyle storm to their dorms with their arms full of food. I figured it was just them and continue reading when I hear someone sit in the chair nearest to mine on my right hand side. I turn to see none other than Draco Malfoy smirking at me. I roll my eyes slightly and pretend to go back to my book. However, I am not reading. I am busy thinking about why he was smirking at me like he was up to something.
"Are you planning on reading that page for eternity?"
I snap myself back into reality and glare at him.
"Awe, am I ruining your concentration?" He taunts.
I sigh and put my book down, "Would you like something Draco?"
He smirks again and tries to put on an innocent façade.
"What makes you think I want something?"
I roll my eyes again and focus my eyes out the nearest window.
"So," He begins, "You're a Knight?"
I turn my head to him and nod as I sit up straighter into my chair.
He mumbles something to himself that sounded a lot like, "Why did I never notice you before?"
"Maybe because you're too busy in your own little world." I say sarcastically.
He glares at me before continuing, "My father knew yours, I believe."
"Yes, he probably did."
"Did.... Um, this is awkward but I need to ask, are both your parents dead?"
I sat stunned for a moment. How to answer him without arousing suspicion?
"Well, " I begin slowly, "My mother was killed by a werewolf and my father isn't able to care for me. So It definitely seems like their both dead but no, my father is not."
"I heard he was in Azkaban." States a voice from the door.
We both flick our attention to Pansy Parkinson.
"Yes, he is." I say, "That would be why he can't care for me."
I have no idea how she knew that. The ministry has kept things quite lowkey. Pansy looks happy with herself as she says,
"So you're practically an orphan?"
Just then, Emily storms in and glares at Pansy for me.
"Back off Pansy." She snaps before grabbing my hand and hauling me from the chair.
Something tells me she was listening in. Draco looks as if he wants to say something but doesn't as I get dragged out of the common room that is now filling with students. We go straight to my room where Marie and Lydia already are. We spend our little amount of time discussing the upcoming O.W.L.s and of course, boys.
