Ian Eastwood as Chandler Young
JADE
I waited anxiously, anticipating the door to burst open and expose Jared and me. However, the darkness continued to envelop us in the small space of the closet, and the door remained firmly shut. I wondered what was going on. My father was still attempting to twist the doorknob, but it refused to move, just like earlier when I had tried to open it. I could hear my dad groaning in frustration, and I knew that we had bought ourselves some time.
I moved away from the door, and Jared followed suit, his back pressed against the wall. His voice was barely audible when he whispered into my ear, "Whoa, slow down there." His words sent shivers down my spine, and I suddenly realized that my hands had instinctively grabbed onto the front of his shirt, pulling us closer together. I hadn't meant to do that, but the situation had escalated so quickly.
However, our closeness became the least of my concerns when I heard my father's voice coming through the door.
"This doorknob has been used enough," my father's voice filtered through the door.
"Chandler, you should call maintenance to replace the doorknobs in this house. Some are too rusty to use. It's not safe for Jade to come here with doorknobs like this."
My body shook slightly at the sound of my name. I knelt down and silently thanked the heavens when my father finally left. I released the breath I didn't realize I'd been holding for so long, but I jumped slightly when everything suddenly turned dark. My father must have snapped the switch off.
"Great," Jared muttered in front of me.
"Shut up," I snapped at him, and we waited for my father's footsteps to fade.
After taking a few deep breaths to calm myself down, I finally remembered Jared's presence in the cramped space. "I'm sorry," I muttered, hoping he didn't notice how rattled I was.
Jared spoke up again, his voice dripping with pure cockiness. "Well, what do we have here?" His chuckle made my body vibrate as he moved closer, deliberately closing the gap between us until our hips were pressed together. I felt a sudden surge of heat at the contact but tried to push it down.
Out of curiosity, I noticed something bulging through the lower part of Jared's pants, and my heart skipped a beat. "W-what's that?" I asked, my voice shaking as I stuttered out the words.
Jared shifted slightly, causing the bulge to disappear. "Oh, that? Don't mind that. It's just a man thing," he said, seemingly unfazed by the situation.
"Why are we still here?" Jared repeated, his face still too close to mine. I tried to pull away but he only leaned in closer. "Your father's gone. We can leave now."
I knew he was right, but something inside me hesitated. "I just want to make sure he's gone," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Is that it? Or is that just an excuse for you to hold me?" he replied cockily, moving even closer.
