It was raining, the snow melting slowly, January has ended, after a rough full moon, where Taeil had refused to drink the potion and spent a lonely night in the Shrieking Shack demolishing everything left, he felt wasted, tired, strengthless.
It was his revenge on himself for all he had done. Vanessa hasn't said a word to him, she was looking at him like at a murder when they were meeting in corridors, she also started to date Johnny, but Taeil guessed it was ok, she had all the rights to be mad. He had broken her trust and heart, he wasn't any better than Jaehyun.
During these weeks he was searching for loneliness spending his days in the far ends of Hogwarts in the depths of the library or in the owlery.
Yuta was being excited as the practice season was about to start soon, he had nothing else in mind than the upcoming match with Ravenclaw. Yes, Venessa will be playing against them against him, so Taeil was everything but calm, still he knew it won't be possible to approach Yuta about the subject of his resignation from the team. Marcus Bay was ok now, but Mark wasn't feeling so well, he was skipping classes, being tired early, he seemed somehow transparent and Taeil tried not to fear, although he had read about people split between life and death by a misshapen spell, the perspectives weren't good. He hoped Mark will have the will to fight and stay with them, at least with Herin, he was becoming lively whenever the girl was around him getting back to the old Mark, the witty and crazy teenager. But when he was on his own his gaze turned blank, Taeil had caught him sitting in the common room staring into walls for hours not moving an inch. He tried to shake it off, hold to each hope, he needed a lot of hope, as the secrets he's been keeping were becoming a burden. How many times had he considered confessing it to headmaster Chen, but there was also another cost holding him back from it. The feeling he was trying to deny to rip out of himself, to omit, to never accept, the crazy longing for a human who wasn't worth to be loved. Ok she had been through a peril of darkness, Taeil had no idea how she had survived it all. She had her reasons, yet, he believed there were better ways of dealing with heartbreak.
He couldn't tell, because telling it would break more than one life.
It was dark, the night nearly sticky, but he was safe as the invisibility cloak was covering him tightly. Taeil had borrowed it from Taeyong telling him the real reason of his trip. He left the castle unnoticed hid behind the gatekeeper's house till a few tall shapes appeared at the edge of the forest.
He recognized Hansol and Johnny, the shorter ones had to be Kun and Jungwoo.
"Ok what now?" Johnny was blowing warm air into his frozen hands from the edge of his wand.
They were wearing elegant but light clothes, all tried to look the best they could, Kun was even wearing a tie.
"Inside before this old toad catches us," Hansol glanced to the gatekeeper's house.
Aranda, was an older lady who was living here with two cats and a dog. She always kept far away form school or anyone but she was taking care of some magical creatures.
"Go in there?" Johnny's face fell. "Didn't your hot chic was supposed to pick us up from here and escort?"
"Yep she meant something like that," Hansol rubbed his hair.
"So let's wait," Kun moved closer to Jungwoo.
Taeil sighed, really, they were too big cowards to walk into the forest.
He slipped out of the invisibility cloak hiding it under a rock behind Aranda's hut then walking out towards them.
"Oh shit! Gryffindor's head boy!" swore Jungwoo.
"Hi guys, I'd like to join the excursion," said Taeil walking to them his hand tightly on his wand.
"We won't share the hot chic with you," muttered Hansol.
"I bet Johnny has a girlfriend," said Taeil feeling pain.
"What eyes don't see heart don't tell, or how was it?" asked Hansol glancing at his friends.
"Whatever," Johnny shrugged.
"We still won't share the hot chick," said Kun.
"Maybe she brought some friends," Taeil glanced towards the hut were a light turned on. "Quickly," he whispered hiding into the shadow of the first trees.
The others needed a moment to follow him, Taeil needed to pull Jungwoo inside by his jacket as the hut door opened and Aranda glanced out, her clever eyes scanning the forest line.
She was everything Muggles imagined witches to be like, with her untidy bushy hair the dirty flowery cloak and a long stick in her hand.
"She's scar... au!"
"Shut up," Taeil managed to put Muffliato over the space they were hiding at as the Slytherins began to talk.
"Let's go," he whispered walking further into the forest, the others not moving an inch.
"What if something will come and eat us?" asked Hansol.
"Don't worry it will definitely get poisoned by your taste," muttered Taeil.
