A mouse scuttled through the pine needles. Moonkit's nose twitched. Mouse! She crouched down and lashed her tail in excitement. She placed one paw in front of the other, and prepared herself to pounce. "Moonkit!" A voice hissed.
Moonkit pulled her tail over her nose. "Go away." She mumbled. A paw prodded her, but she refused to get up. The paw prodded her again, harder this time.
Moonkit sat up and blinked the drowsiness out of her eyes. A white bundle of fur tumbled in front of her. "Come on!" Icekit squealed. "Shadekit and Fangkit are already up!" "Keep your whiskers on! I'm coming!" Moonkit purred as her sister bounced on her paws, trying her best to stay still, but seeming unable to do so.
She leapt to her paws. "Race you!" They sprinted across the clearing, Moonkit a whisker ahead of her sister.
Icekit pounced on Moonkit, claws sheathed. Moonkit yowled in surprise. "Get off me you mangy ThunderClan cat!" She hissed.
Icekit playfully batted at her with feather soft paws. "Not until you admit that ThunderClan is the best clan in the forest!"
Moonkit let out a snarl. "Not today Birchstar!" She jumped off of the ground, landing on Icekit's back.
Icekit rolled over dramatically. "No! Darkstar has defeated me again!"
A deep purr from behind them made them freeze. "Is this what you call training?"
Both Moonkit and Icekit whirled around. "Darkstar!" Moonkit purred. "We were fighting ThunderClan! They won't dare attack us when I become leader!"
Icekit let out a mewl of protest. "But I want to be leader!"
Darkstar gazed at his kits, pride lighting his gaze. "If only both of you could become leader."
"There you are!" Frostfire hurried towards them. "Are you disturbing your father?" She scolded gently.
Moonkit puffed out her fur indignantly. "Of course not!"
Darkstar purred. "Off you go."
The kits stared at their father disappointedly. "You'll come visit us soon, right?"
Darkstar nodded. "Don't worry my kits. I promise I will."
Frostfire looked warmly at the siblings. "Would you like to hear a story from the elders den?" Moonkit nodded eagerly. I want to know the history of my clan! She thought excitedly, bounding over to the elder's den.
Snowfeather, an elderly she-cat, purred as Icekit and Moonkit trotted into the room. "Can you tell us a story?" Icekit begged. Snowfeather let a dreamy look pass over her.
"Well, let's start with ShadowClan in general. We are the clan of darkness. The clan of the night. We use everyone's fear as our advantage. We are the cunning and clever ones, and the best at night ambushes. Other clans fear us."
Moonkit puffed out her chest in pride. Her clan was the greatest in the whole forest!
"Our first leader, Tall Shadow, fell in love with the territory the moment she set her eyes on it. When StarClan granted her nine lives, she became known as Shadowstar."
Icekit's tail swished in excitement, and Moonkit had to push away the urge to attack it.
"Unfortunately, we have had a bloodstained history. Brokenstar, son of a medicine cat named Yellowfang, murdered his own father Raggedstar to become leader. He was later killed by a famous ThunderClan leader, Firestar, who was also very arrogant."
Moonkit let out a hiss of agreement. No way mangy ThunderClan was fighting her clan's battles!
"Then came Nightstar." Snowfeather continued. "But StarClan denied him, so Nightstar was forced to lie to his clan about receiving his nine lives."
Icekit was silent. Even her tail had stopped moving.
"Later on, Nightstar died of sickness, and Tigerstar, an evil ThunderClan cat took over ShadowClan and did horrible things, bringing BloodClan into the forest, starting the Great Battle, and killing ThunderClan's noble leader, Bluestar."
Moonkit perked up. That was more like it.
"After Firestar defeated Tigerstar, Blackstar became leader, and led ShadowClan here. Tawnypelt scouted the lands to find a place for ShadowClan with cats from other clans. Finally, her mate, Rowanstar, became leader, and they had three kits. Flametail, a medicine cat apprentice who drowned, Tigerheart, who became deputy and eventually leader, and Dawnpelt. That's enough for today. I could go on forever, but then you would forget!" She purred in amusement.
Moonkit's twitched her whiskers. "Thanks Snowfeather!" She called as she raced back to the nursery. I'm going to be a legend! Moonkit thought. My name will go down in all of the clans' histories! I will be the greatest ShadowClan cat ever known!
A/N: Hi. That's the... second, third, fourth, or fifth update I did today. I hope you-
Moonkit: It was the sixth!
Jenny: When I say that you could interrupt me?
Moonkit: When did you say that I couldn't?
Jenny: *stage whisper* We discussed this already!
Moonkit: *loud whisper* We did?
Jenny: *sigh* I'm starting to regret writing this book from your point of view. I should have done a calmer, more easy going cat like Shadekit.
Moonkit: Then why did you write it with me as the main character?
Jenny: I have no idea.
Moonkit: Well, you better figure that out before I become a warrior!
Jenny: That's a scary thought.
Moonkit: Hey Jenny! I found a wire!
Jenny: Don't touch-
