[OLD] Moonlight Prophecies (Book 1) [Warrior Cat Fanfiction]

Chapter 17

   "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather around the Tall Stump for a clan meeting!" Icepaw gave her an encouraging look as she took her place next to Rockfoot. Darkstar stood on the stump, looking down at her sternly. 

     "Yesterday, Moonpaw went looking for the cure for bloodcough." The cats murmured among each other and peered at her. "Fortunately for her, she returned with the sap from a tree which used to be in SkyClan territory. But that was in Twoleg territory." The murmuring increased.

     Darkstar gave her another stern look. "To make it fair, Moonpaw, step forward." A few cats gasped. "She's not ready!" Frostfire shrieked. She hurriedly rushed forward, trying to smooth down her fur. Moonpaw felt embarrassed by the attention, but forced herself to stay still.

     The ShadowClan leader looked amused. "Moonpaw. You have bravely sought out the cure for this deadly disease and have succeed. I am aware that you have not completed your training, and still have one moon, but your brave act was enough." The warriors nodded in agreement.

     "I, Darkstar, leader of ShadowClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn." Moonpaw felt a quiver if excitements. This is it! "Moonpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." Moonpaw said, completely meaning it. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Moonpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Moonblaze. StarClan honors your bravery and fearlessness, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan."

     "Moonblaze! Moonblaze!" Her clan chanted. Moonblaze lifted her head, savoring the moment. "Moonblaze! Moonblaze!" I am Moonblaze. Loyal warrior of ShadowClan. Daughter of Darkstar and Frostfire. I fought ThunderClan and watched my father die. I defeated the rogue leader single pawed. I bested a rogue who had twice the strength and experience as me. I am Moonblaze. Warrior of ShadowClan. The greatest clan in clan history.

     "Snowfeather is dead!" Featherbreeze's grief stricken meow rang through the camp. With a pang of guilt, Moonblaze remembered that she had forgotten to check on the sick cats.

     While the cats mourned the kind elder's death, Moonblaze slipped into the medicine cat den. "Stormkit?" "Moonpaw!" A delighted mew sounded from across the den. She added over, seeing two bundles of fur in a nest. "Sorry for not visiting you." She apologized. "I've been busy." Stormkit nodded eagerly. He looked healthy compared to little Amberkit, who was curled up in an unmoving ball of fur.

    "I heard you found the cure! Did you have to fight off a rogue?" "Yup." "And you got your warrior name?" Stormkit pressed. "Yes. Moonblaze." "Moonblaze." Stormkit mused. "Great name! I can't wait to become warrior! But I have to be an apprentice first. Do you think Darkstar will let me become an apprentice? Who do you think will be my mentor?" Moonblaze purred at the kit. "Slow down! Great StarClan, I've never seen a kit who asks so many questions!"

     "Moonblaze!" Darkstar yowled. "Please come over by the Tall Stump!" Stormkit looked at her sadly. "You have to leave?" "Yes. But I'll come visit you soon."

     As she exited the den, she turned around once. "Don't worry. I'm sure Darkstar will let you become an apprentice. You will survive this sickness." 

A/N: I'm still using a different electronic, since my other one still isn't connecting to the internet. There's also been some errors with my Wattpad lately, with it saying that it can't publish my stories. Are any of you having the same issues?

Moonblaze: Yeah! It's so boring when you can't update! 

Jenny: Moonblaze, you're sleeping the whole time I'm not on Wattpad. 

Moonblaze: That's not true! Don't listen to anything this evil author says! 

Jenny: Too late! 

Moonblaze: I will—

Jenny: You will go to the warrior's den and stay in there until sunrise. 

Moonblaze: I will go to the warrior's den and stay there until sunrise.
