Moonpaw grabbed Shadepaw's scruff a second before he plunged into the icy cold water. "Are you planning to go for a swim?" Icepaw teased. Shadepaw puffed out his fur indignantly. "The log was slippery!" He snapped, but purred in amusement as Icepaw imitated him falling into the water.

RiverClan was already there. She could tell by the smell of fish. She scanned the clearing for a familiar pelt. There! She bounded over in just a few quick strides. "Ripplepaw!" She purred. Ripplepaw looked up. "Moonpaw!" He greeted. He glanced over his shoulder. "I had to be on my best behavior so Frogleap would let me come." He said, lowering his voice.

Moonpaw lashed her tail. "I came because I fought well in the battle." Ripplepaw stiffened. "Battle? What battle?" "ThunderClan attacked me and Icepaw when we were out hunting!" She hissed angrily. "Stupid, arrogant, snakehearts!" Ripplepaw twitched his whiskers in amusement. "Sounds like you had a busy time. There was a fox in our territory. I was on the patrol that attacked it." "Did you drive it out?" "It'll never come back again!"

ThunderClan surged into the clearing, and Moonpaw had to keep her fur from rising. The two wounds on her shoulder stung, and she hastily licked them to stop the sharp pain. Ripplepaw's eyes lit up. "Wow! You already have your first battle scar? Cool!" Moonpaw flattened her ears in embarrassment. "It's nothing. Just something a ThunderClan apprentice gave me." She glared at that specific 'ThunderClan apprentice' and then looked back at Ripplepaw.

A long haired she-cat was padding towards them. She had pale yellow fur, and amber eyes, like Ripplepaw's. "Hi. You must be Moonpaw." She said. "I'm Duckpaw. Ripplepaw's sister." Moonpaw flicked her tail in acknowledgement.

"Let the Gathering begin!" Nightstar yowled. "SkyClan is doing well and is thriving in our territory. Chipmunkfoot will be retiring to the elders den. We thank him for his service." She dipped her head to the tom. "Also, Whitepelt has become a warrior!" "Whitepelt! Whitepelt!" The clans chanted. Nightstar sat back down.

Carpstar stood up. "There was a fox near the border!" He yowled. Growls erupted from the clearing. "But a brave patrol drive them out! We must thank Leopardfang, Frogleap, Littlefur, Ripplepaw, and Duckpaw!" The RiverClan siblings' eyes shone in pride as their names were called. "That is all."

"WindClan is doing excellent despite of the coming leafbare! We have two new apprentices! Rosepaw and Mudpaw! Mudpaw will be following Mistfang's pawsteps!" The cats of the Gathering murmured their congratulations.

Darkstar stood up tall, reaching to his full height. "This moon, ThunderClan attacked two apprentices when they were alone, out hunting." RiverClan, WindClan, and SkyClan gasped. Darkstar's eyes flashed in anger, but his voice was calm and fair. "Rainstar, do you and your clan have anything to say in your defense?" Moonpaw tilted her head curiously. Why was Rainstar the leader? The deputy had been Shrewfang.

Rainstar lifted her head. "Do not judge our clan by our past leader's mistakes. We are sorry he ever decided to raid." Darkstar nodded. "Birchstar led us all into chaos. I trust that you will do a better job." "Welcome." Nightstar meowed. Carpstar and Meadowstar murmured their congratulations.

"The prey is running well, and I must thank our wonderful medicine cats Featherbreeze and Skyheart." Moonpaw looked over warmly at the young medicine cat. We're lucky to have Skyheart!

Rainstar nodded. "Shrewfang has been rejected by StarClan. The new ThunderClan deputy is Nightwing. Due to the fox attack, our apprentice, Moonpaw died." Take care of her, Fangkit. I'm sure you'll be good friends. She sighed. Fangkit would have been an apprentice now. Fangpaw. His mentor might have been Foxstripe. Fangkit, why did you have to go?

"Otherwise, prey is running well. That is all." "The Gathering is over!" Carpstar yowled. All of the leaders leapt off of the tree.

"Bye Ripplepaw, Duckpaw. Nice seeing you!" She meowed, then dashed off towards her siblings. See you at the next Gathering!

A/N:

Moonpaw: Why is Rainstar leader?

Jenny: StarClan chose her.

Moonpaw: But wasn't Shrewfang the deputy?

Jenny: StarClan rejected him for running away from the battle and working with Birchstar. (See @GekkoSenshi 's story for the exact details)

Moonpaw: Why did Birchstar attack Icepaw and me anyway?

Jenny: You'll find out later.

Moonpaw: When?

Jenny: Book 2 or 3.

Moonpaw: WHAT?! I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!

Jenny: Well, you're going to have to. >:)

Moonpaw: >:( Evil author.

Jenny: Consider yourself lucky that I didn't make you a fat kittypet named Sprinkles.

Moonpaw: Yeah, I'm so lucky. *says sarcastically*

Jenny: Bye! *takes out a pair of scissors and cuts the wire that is generating all electricity in the house*
