Her paws were wet. And Moonpaw hated getting her paws wet. Irritated, she tried to lick them, but stopped at the foul taste. She looked at her paws. It wasn't water. It was blood.
Moonpaw recoiled in shock, jumping back. A river of blood poured through the trees, washing away the whole camp.
Icepaw screeched in fright and disappeared. Shadepaw's eyes widen in terror as the wave of blood bore down on him. Darkstar tried to swim towards the surface but hopelessly sank. Frostfire floated limply past her. Badgerclaw howled as the blood pulled him under.
Moonpaw desperately tried to paddle towards the surface, but her paws were heavy. StarClan, I will not die like this. Then her head went under. "You see?" A voice hissed in her ear. "This is why you must not get distracted."
Moonpaw woke up, her head spinning. She checked her paws. No blood. She let out a breath, relieved.
"Moonpaw!" Badgerclaw yowled. "Are you intending to stay in your den all day?" Moonpaw sighed and slipped out of her den. She spotted Badgerclaw waiting in front of the warriors den and raced over. "What are we doing today?" She asked eagerly.
Skyheart padded over. "I'm going to collect herbs." "Okay! So you want me to help you?" "Sort of. They're near the ThunderClan border." Moonpaw felt her fur rise at the word ThunderClan. "So you want me and Badgerclaw to go with you?" "Actually, I only want you to come." Moonpaw blinked. "You'll make sure that no ThunderClan warrior attacks me, right?" Skyheart purred, clearly amused. Moonpaw straightened up. "Of course I will!"
They padded through the pine forest, pine needles pricking their paws. The scent of ThunderClan hit her nose. "Almost there." Skyheart murmured. She led the way as they trailed near the scent line. Moonpaw cast a few suspicious glances over her shoulder once in awhile. ThunderClan would not harm Skyheart if she could help it.
They reached a patch of herbs. Catmint. Moonpaw could smell it before she could see it. The scent sent a tingle up her spine, and she had to dig her claws into the earth so that she wouldn't pounce on it. "I'll keep watch." She meowed, ignoring the fact that Skyheart's whiskers were twitching in amusement.
She paced back and forth, scanning the clearing. If any ThunderClan cat dares cross the border again, I'll shred their pelt off! She vowed, growling.
A rustle near the border caught her eye. ThunderClan! A sand colored pelt became visible, and the scent of thrush filled her nose. Sunpaw! Sunpaw and her light ginger brother had killed some prey that had crossed the border. As much as it annoyed her, they had caught it on their territory, and it was theirs. Besides, she didn't feel like talking to Sunpaw, out of all cats. That snake-hearted frogbrain! Her ears pricked, and she flicked her tail in annoyance, but she stared off into the woods, deliberately ignoring them.
Sunpaw motioned for her brother to leave with a sweep of her sand-colored tail and disappeared deep into ThunderClan territory. Moonpaw bared her teeth. Arrogant ThunderClan, snakehearted, piece of foxdung! She thought.
She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice when Skyheart padded up behind her. "Come on. Let's get back to the camp."
A/N: I hope everyone had a great New Year!

Jenny: Uh... nothing. Nothing important.
Moonpaw: *narrows eyes suspiciously*
Jenny: Anywho, happy second day of 2018!
Moonpaw: What's-
