Chapter One: Home...Sort Of

Hi! Quick little fourth wall break, 'cuz why the heck not? So my name is Evan Black, but everyone just calls me either Ev. If you haven't already worked this out from the title and my semi-obvious name, I am a gray and black wolf, gay, and I live in the gateway to New England, Connecticut. I recently finished high school and will be attending The University of Connecticut come autumn, finally able to meet back up with my best friend, Jason.

Jason is an green Irish Swallow, which is a bird. I currently live with his parents in Storrs, Connecticut due to some personal reasons that I'm not super willing to get into right now. Anyways, time to jump behind this invisible wall, or should I say the screen your looking at right now. Take your choice.

Downstairs a loud noise chimed. The doorbell. "I'll get it!" I yell through my open bedroom door as I swung my legs to the ground and stand. Fuck. Too fast. I think as an onslaught of dizziness and swirling magenta lights impair my ability to move. After a few seconds my vision clears and I regain my balance. Ding. The doorbell rang again. I hopped down the stairs, taking them two at a time and turned the corner to the front door. I opened it to see a lamb in a UPS uniform holding a rather large package.

"Is there an Evan Black here?" She asks.

"That would be me. This for me?" I responded.

"Mhm. Just need an I.D. and a signature. I reached into my back pocket to pull out my I.D. and after she glanced at it quickly, was handed a brown clipboard and a pen. I scrawled a signature that kind of looked like my name and walk back inside, carrying the package. Damn it's heavy. The paper wrapping ut reads: Barnes and Noble. Oh, yes! My college books finally got here! I heave the books upstairs and drop them onto my mattress, tearing a line in the wrapping with my paw. Three books were stacked on top of each other, Nature Studies: Series II, Advanced Biology, and Public Health: Course One. I quickly flipped through the biology one, also the biggest. A bunch of charts and diagrams explaining biological formulas were inked onto each fresh smelling page. I closed the book and placed it and the others onto my desk, along with the other materials I would be bringing to college in a week. I can't believe it, I'll finally be away from high school and off to start a new chapter. I was always bullied for being gay, and I stood no chance against almost anyone who came at me.

I looked out the window next to my desk, the goldenrod sun starting to decend below the horizon. I was super anxious about attending UConn, what if they find out I'm gay? If they do, I'm fucked. At least I'll have Jason, I shook my head and went back to packing my bags.

Hey guys who won't read this. Sorry about this chapter being super short, it was mainly just to introduce characters and setting/scenario. The other chapters should average at about 1,000+ words a piece, so don't worry. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.
