Eventually I started to regain my senses, one by one, starting with my hearing. Faintly, what seemed to be very far off, a voice was calling my name. Not too long after, however, everything else came back. A sharp pain was emanating from the back of my head. I jolted, which only made the pain ten times worse. I opened one of my eyes to look around, the sun blinding me as it seemed to be way more intense than usual. I shielded them enough to just barely make out a couple of gathering silhouettes trying to see what happened and a black horse standing in front of me. It took me a second to recognize him, but eventually his name came to my head.

"Hi Brandon. What happened?" I croaked out, my voice sounding shot. Just then I noticed another shape laying down near me. It was Rob. Something bronzish glinted in the sunlight, but I couldn't quite make out what it was.

"This asshole," Brandon started, jerking his thumb towards Rob, "decided to come at you with freaking dusters." Brass knuckles?!

"Pussy." I said, rolling my head back to the sky, closing my eyes again and wincing. I could hear Brandon's laugh.

"Well he could have done worse. Lucky for you I had my bat with me." I opened my left eye and raised my eyebrow, my hands resting on my forehead.

"And why the hell do you just casually carry a bat around?" I asked, then it dawned on me. "Ohhhh, baseball." He nodded as I saw the navy jersey he was wearing, embroidered with the number 15. "Well thanks man." I added, attempting to sit up but I fell back again, yelping in pain, my head feeling like it was in a blender. Then I felt two muscular arms pick me up bridal style and start walking with ease.

"C'mon hotshot, let's get you to the infirmary." He said as he walked me to his car.

"I can walk, it's okay." I said.

"Mhm, you could totally sit up too." He retorted with a slight smirk.

"Oh shut up." I laughed as I saw a campus officer arriving to get Rob. He sighed comically as he saw who it was and pulled out a notepad.

Two hours later I was in my bed with all the lights off and blinds drawn. The nurse at the campus infirmary told me that I had a moderate concussion and to take the next couple of weeks off. She also gave me a small white bottle with some strong-ass pain killers. They made me super drowsy, and even though I wasn't really supposed to fall asleep, after a while I couldn't help it. Before I had Brandon text Evan for me telling him tht I was injured and would have to postpone our "chat" for a couple of days. Evan's going to have to wait. I thought to myself, with, wait, was that a bit of sadness? I guess so. I just turned over and fell into a deep sleep instantly.

Ever since Evan stormed out of the food court this morning I've felt like shit. I can get a bit pushy, and well, unsensitive sometimes towards other people. After Evan left people just stared at me, Jason even shooting me a bit of a dirty look as he went out to go follow him. Now I was in my dorm, laying down on my couch. I pulled up Evan's contact, a picture of all of us at the beach together set as his profile picture. I decided that I would write him a quick apology for earlier.

Me: Hey look, Evan. I'm super sorry for being a bit of a bitch earlier, I wasn't really thinking. I hope I didn't ruin your day.

A couple of minutes passed by before a reply came.

Evan: It's okay, I've just been going through a bit of a situation recently but I'm feeling somewhat better now.

Me: Thanks lil' dude. Cya later.

Evan: Cya 😅

I put my phone down, picking the gray remote up from the arm of the couch and turned on the TV, feeling better.

I was in my room, still shocked by what Alex did earlier, constantly checking my phone to see the time. 14:32. It felt like six would never come. Then a text bubble popped up. I clicked on it and was taken to a new chat made between Brandon and I.

Brandon: Hey, so Alex wanted me to text you because you guys apparently had something planned for later today, but he got into a bit of a scuffle earlier and has a concussion. You guys are going to have to delay for a day or two.

Fuck! I threw my phone onto the sheets that were still piled in the corner of my room. Days?! That's going to take forever! But I was also kind of worried about Alex, thankfully he seemed like he would be fine, so I guess that is good news. I wonder what happened though... I thought to myself as I sat in my room in silence.

After about another hour of doing literally nothing but waste oxygen, I decided I would go out for a bit. Maybe to the park nearby or somewhere else. I just needed to do something. (And get off of my lazy butt)

Ten minutes after decided to get out of my dorm, I was jogging down my favorite path at the nearby park, listening to some Green Day and keeping a moderately fast pace. The running seemed to be calming me down, and I actually felt good and healthy. Now with the start of college I had classes and so much freaking studying/homework that I rarely had the chance to go and work out. I'm not some health nut, and could benefit from being healthier, but at l wasn't lethargic.

I stopped after about two laps around the park to get a drink from the water fountain, feeling the icy cold water travel down my throat. My phone buzzed ans I pulled it out of my pocket, making sure to be careful so that I didn't rip out my headphones. It was a text from Amy.

Amy: Hey we are all getting together later at the mall to get Brandon gifts for his birthday, you in?

Me: Yeah sure, what time?

Amy: Around five thirty, we will probably go and get dinner after, so come hungry.

Me: Ok, see you then.

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and started jogging back towards my car. At least I still have plans tonight.
