***A/N smut ahead***

We're blessed here in California to have such warm weather year round, rather than enjoying myself on the beach and tanning however I'm slicing through our heated swimming pool on a blustery winter day in December. It's a few days before Christmas, and Stevie still in the waning visage of her depression is in the house with the kids decorating. She's doing much better and a few sessions with her women's group in the city and she's climbing back up to normality as she calls it. In the mean time I've got over eighty percent of the album done and ready to edit, the only thing left are final cuts the cover and publicity junk. All of which I'm terrible at so I leave to Ken, and Richard.

Shaking the water from my short, and according to Stevie very sexy, hair I jump out of the pool and do fifty push ups before jumping back in for twenty more laps. My style of play has gotten a lot more active and energized since I cut back on booze and pot post brain surgery. My doctor has never been happier with my overall health, and I feel pretty damn great. Greg keeps warning me not to get too ripped, I'm no Jeff obviously.

With my lungs screaming and my muscles backing them up on vocals I finally climb out of the pool wrapping a towel around my neck. The security alarm beeps and two sets of tiny feet dash inside "I'm going first! I'm jumping first!" Sara tosses her robe on my lounger jumping loudly into the deep end of the pool "No fair! I wanna jump first! Daddy!" smaller and slower, but no less excited Nova toddles after his sister kicking off his shoes and laying his things with mine "Daddy I wanna jump!". Exhausted I chuck my towel back on the lounger and lift Nova off his feet.

"You ready?" Nova's little legs kick and he holds me around the neck "Hold your breath okay?" he sucks in a big breath and so do I jumping into the eight foot side of the pool feet first. As soon as I feel the bottom of the pool I push back up the two of us letting out a big exaggerated exhale of air. I've taught both my kids everything I know about swimming and safety in the water, but Stevie insists that one of us stay in the pool with them when they swim. I have no objections, other than my sore muscles and growling stomach.

"Daddy watch me!" pushing away from me Nova starts to kick through the water toward the side of the pool. For his age he's a powerful swimmer and I only have to shadow him until he gets to the four foot section. Sara has discovered diving and ignores her brother as she goes to the bottom of the shallow end then swims back up over and over again. The door beeps again and Stevie walks out with AJ strapped across her chest "One hour guys then it's time to get ready for supper" two heads poke up looking back at their mother "Okay!" they both say in chorus. I swear they practice that.

"You care to join us?" sitting in the lounger next to mine Stevie adjusts AJ against her front "fraid not Linds, you're Aquaman not me" climbing up onto the siding I sit next to Stevie's feet stretching my arms over my head "They must have been going nuts in there" Nova and Sara are both balls of super concentrated energy, they can barely sit still when they're in one of their wiggly moods. Apparently that's my fault, my compulsive fidgeting coming back to bite me in the ass in fatherhood.

"I must say...you look absolutely scrumptious in that little speedo" looking over my shoulder I grin at the lascivious look on m wife's face. Her eyes roam up and down my body meeting mine on the return trip "Trust me sweetheart you look better in a swim suit than I ever will" snorting Stevie adjusts mine and the kids towels "Daddy are you watching me!?" hands on her hips Sara scrunches her little face in exasperation as she steps up to the diving board again "I'm watching baby girl" smiling she tip toes to the end of the board then jumps feet first into the water splashing all over the deck.

"She is just like you" AJ grumbles looking up at his momma before putting his fist in his mouth "You okay Steph?" combing our son's hair out of his small face Stevie coos down at him "I'm fine honey, just a little nervous for the first of the year." Nova and Sara start fighting over a floaty "You two cut it out!" Sara lets go swimming away to the deep end while Nova climbs on the flotation device "You know I'm in love with your work babe, you're a genius. I'm just scared that the audience won't want to hear our new stuff" shrugging I cross my arms a bit defensively "I think people will come to hear our old stuff, but fall in love with what we've created for this album"
