Addilyn's POVMy parents took the time to blink a couple of times before my father spoke up. "What was that Addilyn?"
"I said I have made my decision. How did you not hear that?"
"You just caught us off guard. I didn't think you would have made you decision so quickly" my mom said.
"Well I want to move," they looked surprised, "and that's final." I could see that my mom was about to say something to change my mind but before she could I ran up to my room to start packing.
Packing gave me plenty of time to think about everything. To think about how I abandon my best friend on accident and then on purpose. To think about how close I had gotten to Jack and then how he became a stranger to me. To think about the time I had missed with my dad and how I am going to gain it back.
All this time made me realize moving is the right choice.
Thursday.
I had survived the school day. I hadn't told anybody about the move and I wasn't planning on it either. Not until I told Jack of course. I had rushed to Jack's locker so I wouldn't miss him. I had so much to tell him and yell at him for.
Soon after I got to Jack's locker he came over.
"Hey, Addy. Was I supposed to take you home today?" A hint of confusion was on Jack's face.
"No, you weren't. I just need to talk to you about stuff." The confusion disappear and was replaced with a smile.
"Okay then, walk out with me." He nodded his head towards the exit of the school as a signal to start walking. I walked beside him and he placed his hand on my back softly. "What's up? What did you wanna talk about?"
"Well first off-"
"Sorry Addy, but could you walk a bit faster. I gotta hurry and meet up with the guys." My mouth dropped open in shock. It's been less than five minutes and he is already talking about meeting up with the guys. I completely stopped in my tracks and he looked back at me.
Jack could see the anger in my eyes. "Are you serious Jack?!! Your girlfriend is trying to talk to you about some important stuff and you're worried about catching up with the guys?!"
"Sorry Addy, I didn't know it was important."
"It doesn't matter, Jack! You should listen to anything I have to say. I have been trying to talk to you for months now and every time you just cut me off. But this time you are going to stand here and listen." It's a good thing we had made it to the parking lot because my voice can carry in those hallways.
"What are you talking about Addilyn? I always listen to you." His voice was firm.
"Oh yeah? Something big happened yesterday, what was it?" Jack stared at me for what seemed like forever. He was thinking but eventually he looked away in defeat. "Exactly, you don't know. Kimberley and I got in an argument yesterday and she made me realized how bad of a friend I was. And now we're not even acquaintances. She hates me and when I called you, you were so quick to get me off the phone."
Jack turned his head back at me with a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry Addilyn, I should've talked to you. It won't happen again. Anytime you need to talk, I'll listen."
It felt good to hear him say that but deep down I don't really believe him. "Jack, I don't think that's enough."
"I do. I'll pick you up Saturday for the party and we can-"
"Im not going to that party so you won't need to pick me up." Before Jack could say anything, there was a car honk. He turned around to see Chad and a couple other guys in the car waiting for him. He looked back at me. I could see the urgency in his eyes to get out of this conversation and into that car.
