Addilyn's POVI tried to leave soon after arriving back at the house, but they all insisted that I stayed. Aspen seemed extra eager to get me to stay which surprised me. I don't know if it was to question me so that she could get dirt on me, or if she actually enjoyed my company but I didn't really care enough to think about it.
I keep getting a weird feeling from her. I can feel her eyes burn holes in my back every time I look away.
Currently, I'm sat on the couch watching tv with everyone else as Jack changes into something more comfy. Jonah and I occupy the bigger couch and are engaging in casual conversation while Aspen and Zach are on the smaller love seat.
"Okay movie time! I'll pick" Zach so kindly chose himself to pick our entertainment.
"No! You will NOT pick!" Jonah argued.
"Hey, why can't the kid pick?" I questioned, watching as Zach scanned through the movie options.
"I pick... Titanic!" Zach blurted our, ignoring Jonah's protest.
"That's why. He picks Titanic every time. This will be the 6th time." I laugh at Jonah's clear annoyance.
Zach puts the disc in and gets back to his seat on the love seat. Soon, Jack comes down in a pair of grey sweatpants and a regular black hoodie. Aspen notices Jack walk in and scoots over, trying to make more room with the limited space left on the small love seat. "Here Jack, I saved you a seat."
He smiled over to her and glanced at the small amount of space left. "That's alright, Aspen. I don't want to squash you guys. I'll just sit over here" he said, gesturing to the space next to me. She rolled her eyes unsubtly as Jack plopped down next to me, sending me a warm smile. I returned it and then Jack asked, "what are we watching?"
"Zach chose it" Jonah hinted.
"Titanic againnn?!" Jack groaned, causing everyone to laugh. Zach shrugged his shoulders.
"What can I say? I'm a romantic."
The movie had finally started after a few previews. Throughout the beginning of the movie, Jack kept bumping his leg into mine and messing with me. I kept glaring at him but he didn't seem to care. I could see out of the corner of my eye Aspen staring as Jack played around. She tried hard to hide her jealousy but I could see right past it. Jealousy spotting became a skill of mine that I developed when I started dating Jack in high school and man, did I spot it everywhere.
Twenty minutes into the movie, Aspen had grown annoyed with our messing around and stood up. "I'm gonna make popcorn, mind helping me out Addilyn?" I looked at her confused before nodding and getting up, not wanting to be rude. Once we made it to the kitchen, she put a bag of popcorn in the microwave and then confronted me.
"So Addilyn... what's up with you and Jack?" I was taken back by her question.
"What do you mean?! Nothing!"
"It doesn't look that way to me."
"Look, I don't know what you're getting at but Jack and I are just friends. I'm friends with all of the boys and I'm with Daniel so obviously you have the wrong idea." I argued.
"Okay, if you say so." She didn't seem fully convinced. Heck! Even I wasn't fully convinced but she is the last person who needs to know that.
"I don't know what I ever did to you but I get the feeling you don't like me." For once, she looked at me as if she actually heard me this time. She shook her head in realization.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I-I'm just j-jealous. It's hard for me to admit but I can't stand the idea of Jack around another girl that's not me." She admitted.
"Ohhh, you like him! That makes a lot of sense now." I already knew she had feelings for him, she follows him around like a puppy. But I didn't want to embarrass her so I lied as if she was slick. "Well, you have nothing to be jealous about. I fully support you going for him and he'd be stupid not to like you back. I just want this weird tension to stop so we can be real friends."
"Me too. I'm sorry."
"No worries." She pulled me in a hug, starting our new friendship off right.
Finally the popcorn was down popping and we re-entered the living room. I walked in first and took Aspen's spot next Zach so she could sit next to Jack. Jack noticed the change and looked a bit disappointed but didn't say anything.
By the end of the movie, only Zach and I were still up. I could see Zach wiping away some of his tears. I look over to see Jack asleep, leaning on Aspen, and Jonah snuggling with the couch cushion. I told Zach I was leaving and went home, enjoying being in my own space alone.
