Addilyn's POV
My sleep was interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing. Groaning as I reached for it, I saw that Aspen was calling me.
"Hello," I said answering the phone.
"Omg Addy, youllneverguesswhathappened!" Aspen spoke so fast I had no idea what she said. I sat up in my bed and told her to slow down. "You'll never guess what happened!" I could feel her excitement through the phone and it made me more intrigued.
"What happened?"
"Jack asked me out!!" she squealed through the phone.
"Seriously?!" Jack is confusing the hell out of me now. Is he already over me? Good. I want him to be over me. Kind of. I don't know what I want.
"Yeah! I'm so happy!"
"That's great!" I am happy that Aspen is happy but I'm not as happy as I would if it was a different guy.
"Yeah, I can't wait to join you guys tomorrow," Aspen stated.
"Wait, what? What do you mean 'join us'?" The only thing I'm doing tomorrow is going on a date with Daniel. Where could they possibly join us at?
"Oh, did Daniel not tell you?" I guess not. "Daniel invited Jack to have a double date with you guys and that's why he asked me out."
Everything was clicking now. Jack was going to be ruining Daniel and I's date by a) tagging along in the first place and b) trying to make me jealous with another girl. But it won't work. If anything, Jack will get uncomfortable with how cute Daniel and I are and leave on his own.
It doesn't matter what Jack's plan is. There's nothing he can do to win me over. The person I feel bad for is Aspen. She actually likes Jack and he is just using her.
"Oh, he didn't tell me but it doesn't matter. We'll still have fun."
"Yeah, well I got to go. Talk to you later, Addy." Aspen hung up and the first thing on my mind was texting Daniel. And Justin. And Jonah. Anyone that I could rant to.
Me: hey dani
He was quick to respond.
Dani💋: hey bby
Me: Is there anything u need to tell me??
Dani💋: umm no i don't think so
Me: nothing ab our date tmr?
Dani💋: oh yea, i felt bad ab not spending enough time w jack so i invited him to join us and bring a date
Me: so u organized a double date w/o asking me. nice
Dani💋: sorry, i didn't think u would care
Me: whatever.
I didn't want to text him anymore. I was only getting angrier every message. It was time to update Justin.
Me: i hate guys.
That pretty much sums everything up.
I know that Justin is a slower responder so while I wait for him, I'm going to rant to Jonah.
I texted Jonah and told everything that has happened during my quick three hour nap. He instantly responded and told me he was going to talk to Jack. Finally, someone Jack might actually listen to.
Jack's POV:
Currently, I'm on my phone in my room, planning the different ways I can make Addilyn jealous. I'm mid-idea when there's a knick at the door. "Come me in," I shout. Jonah appears after slowly opening the door. "Hey, man," I greet. He doesn't look too pleased. "What's up?"
He comes toward me and takes a seat on the edge of my bed. "Jack, what are you doing?" It sounded like more a rhetorical question than a real question. I just raised an eyebrow for him to continue. "With Addy. Why are trying to ruin everything for her?"
I felt slightly insulted by the question, as if wanting to be with her ruins everything for her. It doesn't, not everything will be ruined. Just her relationship with Daniel will. "I'm not trying to ruin anything for her. I'm trying to make things better for her by being with me."
"But things are good for her, with Daniel. She's happy, he's happy. Why can't you be happy for them and move on?"
"I can't be happy without her."
"What about that whole year when she wasn't around? You seemed happy then," Jonah argued.
"I didn't know what I was missing. But now I do. Jonah, I know I'm being a bad friend-"
"A terrible friend."
"Fine, I'm being a terrible friend but I can't help it. Addilyn isn't the one for Daniel. He can find someone new."
"You're only thinking about yourself Jack. This isn't just about your happiness. There's other people's happiness that your messing with." And with that, Jonah left, giving me time to think to myself about everything happening.
