Labyrinth
You walk into an unknown territory.
A maze. Why? Because you can't help but be curious of what's inside. Of what is coming for you. You're afraid but at the same time you're excited.
You enter slowly. Step by step. You look at the walls carved with scratches. Your fingers map the scratches but you retrieve quickly as if they burned you, because they seemed like the doing of your hands.
But you've never been here.
Then you walk in a little deeper and you hear a sound coming from behind. But you're too mesmerised by something in front of you. Rather someone.
You see a dark figure. It's just standing there mocking your position. You don't know whether it is staring at you or not. You hear crackling when the figure moves its fingers. You turn around to leave the maze but see the door closing.
There is no way out.
When you look back the figure is now closer. Only with deep blood red eyes. It grabs you by your neck which slowly suffocating you.
You need help.
So, you kick and flail your legs around and all of sudden you meet the ground. You have saved yourself, but for how long?
You take your cue and run. You run as fast as you can to complete the maze. Nights turn into days. The maze keeps changing and you get trapped again and again. It's only you and that red-eyed monster. So all you do is run. Run away from that demon and try not to get caught between its callous fingers.
Soon, you're tired. You feel numb. Slowly it getting harder to breathe.
And then you break down.
Your heart beats faster. And all you do is cry. And then you hate your self for being so weak. You need something to punish yourself. Something that can harm you. So you hit your self. You scratch your skin until it matches the demons eye. Slowly your eyes get blurry. You see not one but many red-eyed monsters approaching you. They all look familiar to you.
Then you realise that they are of your past.
You turn around and face the wall as you're afraid to look at them. And then the taunting begins. They all talk together. Your hands scratch against the walls trying to drown their words in the screeching noise but you can hear every single word clear as crystal and harsh as a broken glass. You can hear every rhythm of their hate.
"You're not enough for anybody."
"Kill yourself, please."
"Nobody needs you."And you just sit there. Letting out a deep and shallow breath as you keep your hand on your heart because it hurts. And you just let those words affect you. And slowly their words become yours.
And then you wake up.
You wake up the next morning feeling numb and walk towards the mirror and see the tear stains and puffy eyes. Last nights thoughts come clashing back to you but you splash a handful of cold water on your face to push them away, shower and brush your teeth to get ready for school.
You greet your parents with a smile, get on your daily bus, joke around with your friends, copy down all the lecture notes given by your teachers, get inside the bus, reach home, eat lunch, finish your homework and your dinner. You go to bed and switch off all lights and stare at the rotating fan
Until
You walk into an unknown territory.
