After winter break ends, the first day back at school comes. You drive Sophie to school, before taking Barbara and yourself to Roosterteeth studios. She goes to record lines for RWBY, and you go to set something up for Knock-Out Fighter. The day ends quickly, as it always does when you have the best job in the world. When Barbara finishes her recording, the two of you go and pick your daughter up from school.
Sophie has a really big smile on her face, and talks very quickly about her day was. Then, she turns to you and Barbara. " Mommy, Daddy," she says. " You know my friend Conner?" The two of you nod, and her face gets really big with her smile. " His parents are moving in together! They aren't married like you, but they're moving in together! Isn't that great?"
You smile. Conner has spent a lot of time at your house, being friends with your daughter. You've also dropped Sophie off at either one of the houses before. His parents are great people, and you're happy they ended up moving in together. When you tell Sophie this, she nods really happily. " Hey, when did you and Mom move in together?"
-Flashback, your pov-
Your mom and I had been dating for six months when we decided to move in together. I know that doesn't sound like a really long time. But I mean, she and I had known each other all of our lives, having grown up together. When we started dating, it was like starting from the third date, at least. She and I had spent a lot of time at either one of our houses, and it wasn't uncommon for one of us to stay the night.
Eventually, she was the one who brought up the idea. " Hey, (y/n), do you think we should move in together," she had asked, or something to that effect. " I mean, we spend most of our time with each other, and we work in the same place."
At first, I was kinda worried about the idea of moving in together. I mean, it's a really big step Sophie, so it is a really big deal that Conner's parents are moving in together. But, when I thought about it, moving in with your mother was all I wanted to do. I had spent a lot of time with her as kids, so I knew the two of us could live together. We already knew each other's habits, and she and I are pretty similar with how we live and set up the house.
From there, all we had to do was decide who was going to sell the house to move in with the other. That's also one of the big conversations that comes in when you decide to move in with someone. But, your mother and I had really similar houses. Same size, and general dimensions. In the end, we literally flipped a coin to decide who moved out. In the end, I ended up moving in with her.
It took us awhile to get all of the details sorted out. Neither of us had any idea what it took to move in with someone else. From talking to the movers, deciding which stuff I needed to bring with me. It was a lot of effort, and there were times when she and I thought about just waiting to move in with each other until later. But, everyone at Roosterteeth was super helpful, and encouraged us to move in together. After sometime, all my stuff was in boxes and then I moved in with your mother.
I gave a lot of my stuff away to friends, and coworkers. All I took with me was my manga collection, and my video games. Most of my other stuff went into storage. Actually, most of my stuff never got unpacked right away. Your mom and I would just walk around the room, and see the boxes, and say we needed to unpack them. Then we would laugh about it, because we both knew those who end up being there for awhile.
The first night I spent with your mom, I knew I had made the right choice. I mean, she and I had....stayed the night before, among other things. But never like that. When I woke up next to her, it was this magical experience. I looked over at her, and the girl I had been in love with since elementary school was right there.
And then that first morning. I made her breakfast, and we ate, and talked. It took me all day to figure out what was different about it. When she drove me home from work,, that was when I realized. I wasn't going to go to my house, and she wasn't going to go to hers. We were going to our house. That was one of the best feelings I ever had.
We never looked back. There was never a time when I thought that I should move out. There were some times when that same feeling hit me, that was I living with this beautiful woman. In all the time I dated your mom, that was still one of my favorite memories.
-Present Day-
Barbara smiles fondly at the memory. " And, we've lived in the house ever since," says Barbara, as the car pulls up in the driveway. " Sure, we may have changed how it works, or the stuff we have with us, and the stuff in storage." She pauses to rub her hands through Sophie's hair. " And then, the biggest change was when we had you. But, this has been our house for more than 6 years now."
