-Flasback Barbara Pov-

So, when (y/n) and I got engaged, there was a lot we needed to do to get set up for it. We had to send out invites, let people know, pick where the wedding would be. There was a lot of important things to set up. In the end, he and I just wanted a small scale wedding, surrounded with friends and family. We didn't need anything fancy. We had each other. One of the more difficult things for us to do was big who would be our best man and maid of honor.

Well, actually it was kinda easy for me to pick the maid of honor. I wanted it to be Arryn. She's my best friend other than (y/n), and actually was almost your godmother. For (y/n,) picking his best man took him awhile. Pretty much every guy at Roosterteeth tried to be his best man, which just made him happy. It isn't all the time people fight and argue to be at your wedding as the best man.

I forget exactly who it ended up with Miles as his best man. I think (y/n) just asked Gavin to set up the series of stupid bets he loves to make, and then it became like a bracket tournament. Every guy in the office put himself into it, and it lasted several days. In the end, we ended up having Miles as the best man. We would have been happy with any of them, and they all let us know we could choose whoever we wanted. It was just a bit of good fun.

On the day of the wedding, it was something else. I didn't get to see (y/n) the day of it, since it's considered bad luck. But, I do consider myself blessed about something. Some people talk about getting cold feet on the day of their wedding, and feel unsure. I never had that. Oh sure, I was nervous from time to time, but it was just anticipation. There was not a doubt in my mind that I should marry (y/n).

I on the other hand was not as composed. I was kinda freaking out and panicking. I mean, I wanted to marry your mother. I wanted to marry Barbara, maybe more than I had ever wanted anything. But for some reason, I was really worried. Miles was doing his best to comfort me, but it was to no avail. In the end, Ally had to smack me in the face and tell me to get a hold of myself before I stopped bouncing on my feet. Your aunt has a way with words by the way. " (y/n), (y/n) listen to me," she had said.

I kept looking around nervously. " Look me in the eyes, or I will smack you again," she had threatened. You looked her in the eye. " Listen to me. I have watched most of your relationship with Barbara. From the moment she came over to play Super Smash Bros with you, you have been in love with her. So, stop freaking out. You are a few hours away from being married to this beautiful, wonderful girl."

Her saying that had me calming down a little bit, and I was taking deep breaths. But, my sister wasn't done yet. " And, (y/n). It took you years to work up the courage to ask her out. If you let all that be for nothing, I will smack you so hard that our parents will feel it."

That made me laugh, and by this point I was fully calmed down. Ally was right. I had nothing to worry about whatsoever. I was marrying Barbara Dunkelman. And that was all I needed to calm back down. From there, I wasn't worried anymore.

So, as I walked down the isle, everyone stood up. I saw Ally get handed 20 bucks from one of her friends, which made me laugh. I looked up at (y/n), and the bridesmaids and grooms, and your dad was crying. Happy tears. But still. We went through our vows, and man those still get me mad emotional.

" Barbara Julie Dunkelman. I vow to stay with you in sickness and health. And, to wake up every day, amazed that we ended up together. And to roll my eyes, but chuckle whenever you make a pun. I vow to be there for you no matter what, and to come running in rain or shine if you call me. And, above all...I vow to love and cherish you to the end of my days and beyond."

That took me back for a moment. I remembered your dad being shy, and stuttering over his words. But, that is one of the most beautiful things I ever heard. It took me a solid thirty seconds to give my vows, still in shock. " I vow to love and care for you, and to try my best every day to be the woman you see when you look at me with eyes full of love. I will always be kind, patient and loving with you. But above all else, I promise to be the best partner I can be. I love you."

We kissed, and then went to the after party. We got swarmed right away by people congratulating us, and then like (y/n) said, your Aunt has a way with words. I remember every word of her toast.

" I remember when (y/n) first met Barbara. Even back then, my brother was in love with her. As time went on, I saw the feelings my brother had for her change and grow. They went from being a schoolboy crush, to her being the love of his life. It has been a long road that brought them to this point. It has been painful, and humbling. But, they are together. I think we can all agree that that's something to be thankful for."

Also, the best feeling in the world was when the ceremony had ended. I was thanking some people for coming, when Ally came up to me. " Your husband is waiting for you in the car."

Pardon my French, but that made me step back. " Holy Shit," I said to myself. " (y/n) is my husband now." I felt super warm and fluffy inside, and it was just a beautiful feeling.

The first time someone referred to Barbara as my wife was also a mystifying feeling. She and I drove somewhere to get a soda. I stood in a long line, and I lost track of her. When I bought the sodas, the cashier musta realized I was confused, so he smiled. " Oh, your wife went to the bathroom."

I couldn't help but smile, and say to myself, " Yeah. Barbara is my wife."

-Present Day-

Sophie smiles when you finish telling the story. " Well, I hope Conner's mom and dad have a wedding just like yours!"
