Mom and dad had just gotten home yesterday, they told me, Zack, Jay, and Maddie that we could invite one friend each to Thanksgiving since none of our other family lived here. I, of course, was inviting Josh and Maddie agreed to invite Jenna. Jay and Zack didn't invite anyone though. I hadn't seen Josh or Jenna all week but we had been texting. Zack and them would always check with me at to see if I had eaten and taken care of myself for the day, I had to lie to them some because there was no way that I could've eaten every meal every day, but it's okay, right?
"Do you need any help with making food, mom?" I asked her as I took a seat at the bar.
"Sure," she wiped her hands on a dish towel, "you can start making the dough for the rolls if you would like."
"Sure, let me wash my hands first." I walked over to the sink and washed up, mom had set out all the ingredients for me and a bowl.
"You remember how to make these, right?"
"Yep, I and grandma use to make them all the time." I smiled smally.
"Great." She smiled at me and messed up my hair. I didn't mind too much, I hadn't gotten ready yet, I was going to do that a little later.
"Would you like to pick some music to listen to?" Mom asked me.
"Uhhhh sure. What about My Chemical Romance?" I asked her.
"Sounds good." She smiled and turned up the music.
I started mixing up the ingredients in the bowl as I hummed along to Dead!. Believe it or not, I'm rather good in the kitchen. I use to cook all the time with my grandparents until they moved to Florida. We didn't see them often anymore but when we did, grandma and I would always bake or cook something. I was once told that I was one of the best cooks in our family, which isn't too impressive because I grew up in a family where we would usually have frozen dinners during the week and most weekends. I finished rolling and cutting out the dough and I put it all in a pan then slid it into the oven.
"Alright, what time is it mom?" She looked down at her watch, "About 5:00, everyone should be here by 6:00."
"Okay, do you need help with anything else?"
"Nope, I should be good, all I have left to do is get the rolls and broccoli casserole out of the oven."
"Alright, well, I'm going to go get ready then." I smiled at her and started to walk out of the room.
"Oh, and Ty, thank you." She smiled.
"No problem, mom." I continued to walk up the steps and to my room, I pulled out my black jeans and a white button-down dress shirt, I walked to the bathroom and started my shower water, I took off my shirt and saw that a lot of the bruises had completely healed since last week. I also noticed that a lot of my scars where fading, I smiled a bit, I hadn't cut for a whole week. Maybe I'm starting to get better. I hoped in the shower and hummed a few songs that I had written. I got out and got dressed, I brushed my teeth then styled my hair, I walked out of the bathroom and into my room. I slid on my black converse, grabbed my phone from the charger, and headed downstairs.
"Tyler!" I heard a familiar voice squeak.
"Jenna! What's up?" I hugged her.
"Not much. What up with you?" She pulled away and put her hands in my shoulders.
"Oh nothing really. Working on some more music." I smiled.
"That's amazing." She lightly shook my shoulders.
"The life of the party is here!" Jenna and I turned around.
"Josh!" Jenna exclaimed.
"Hey man!" I pulled him into a side hug.
"What's up my friends?"
"Not much." Jenna said, "What about you?"
"Nothing really." He smiled.
"Alright kids, it's time to eat!" Mom yelled so everyone to hear. Soon everyone was at the table ready to eat, we said blessing then passed around the food. I ate a little then played with the rest of my food. Everyone started talking about school and work, we conversed for about an hour then we all retired to the living room. We continued to talk for about thirty minutes until mom got a phone call.
"Hello? Oh I'm so sorry I forgot all about that! Yes, we will be there soon. Buh-bye." She hung up the phone and we all looked at her.
"Honey, we forgot about the Thanksgiving dinner at the church." She sighed.
"Oh shoot." He got up and walked towards the front door. "I'll be in the car if you want to grab your purse and meet me out there."
"Yep." She started back to their room. When she entered the room she suddenly remembered that we where all here, "Oh, I'm sorry guys. Is it okay if we leave?" She looked as if she was going to cry, she hated when she had guest over and had to leave while they were here.
"Sure thing, Mrs. J." Josh smiled at here.
"Yeah, we don't mind at all." Jenna replied.
"Okay, we'll be back in a few hours, okay?"
"Okay mom, and don't worry about it, we'll be fine." I smiled at her.
"Okay." She smiled a little and walked out the door.
"Now the party can begin." Jay smiled and pulled the game Monopoly out of the closet.
