Now What?

Quietly slipping into the kitchen, Zack began to make our sandwiches. "I'm going to try to clean up a bit." I started picking up shards of glass from the dishes that fell when Zack got knocked out.

"Okay, be careful though." Zack warned me as I continued to pick up the small pieces.

"Okay, I think I got it all." I dumped the glass into the trash can then got the broom to sweep up anything that was left.

"Awesome. Sandwiches are done when ever you are done sweeping." Zack picked up the plates and moved them to the table.

"Thanks." I finished up and poured us each a glass of water. "Here you go." I sat it in front of him.

"Thank ya."

"No problem." We said a quick blessing then started eating.

"So," Zack cleared his throat. "we need to talk."

"About what?" I took another bite of my sandwich.

"A few things. One, where would you like to have mom's funeral? I talked to Maddie and she said that she wants us to handle it."

"Oh..umm... I guess we could have it at church?"

"That's what I was thinking. I'll call later to see if we can."

"Okay. What else?"

"How are you doing with this? Honestly."

"I'm fine. I've been around a lot of people most of the time so it's kept my mind off of it, it's a lot to take in. We'll make it though."

"Same here. How about with..." He got silent and motioned towards my covered arms.

"Oh, um okay I guess."

"You sure? You can always talk to me."

"Y-yeah. It's fine, I'm fine."

"Okay." He sighed. "Not to be weird or anything and I'm not pushing this on you at all, by any means, but if you want or need to go get professional help, Tatum and I will gladly pay for it." He grabbed my hand assuringly.

"Thanks, bro. I think I'll be okay." I smiled at his gesture.

"Okay, well if you ever change your mind, the offer will always be there."

"Thanks." We finished up and finished cleaning up the kitchen.

"I'm going to go check on dad." Zack finished putting up the last dish.

"Okay." I stood at the counter and waited for him to get back. Once I heard him I spoke up, "Should we tell the others? About dad I mean."

"Probably. Do you want to tell them now or wait?"

"We should probably go ahead and tell them." I grabbed my phone.

"It's okay." He motioned for me to put away my phone. "I'll do it."

"You sure? I don't mind."

"Nah, it's okay." He stepped outside to make his call and I moved into the living room, turning on the tv, I flipped through the channels until I found the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, my favorite. Why are they playing Christmas movies now anyway? Or was it a Halloween movie? Either way, why are they playing this in February? I heard Zack come in which broke me from my thoughts.

"How'd they take it?" I asked.

"They were fine. Didn't sound surprised, I'm not too surprised either."

"Yeah."

"Anyway, what are we watching?"

"Nightmare Before Christmas."

"Ooo I love this movie." Zack took a seat beside me.

We finished our movie then Zack decided to call the church about the funeral. It was going to be January 18th three days from now. We let everyone know on Facebook. A lot of people replied, many saying they were sorry and that they'd be there. Others asking if we needed anything. We told them that we were fine, but many insisted on making us homemade lasagna anyway...which we gladly accepted.
