Chapter 16
I would like to say that in the rest of our tale, our hero's triumphed over the evil, and everyone lived happily ever after.
But that did not happen.
We last left off with Rapunzel, Merida, and Hiccup facing the problems of their families, and Eugene and Jack stuck in Pitch's lair. They now each have their own stories to tell, and I have to say that none of them are very happy.
Let us first look in with Eugene and Jack. The "present" that Pitch had given them are 3 portals, each leading to a different crisis. The first one leads to Hiccup, who is currently riding a Nadderhead with Astrid, along with the rest of their friends who are each riding dragons. They are currently heading off to the dragon nest, though a storm is starting to rage around them.
The second portal leads to Merida, who is currently fighting the giant bear, Mor'du. Though skilled she may be, this giant bear is determined to kill her.
And the third portal leads to Rapunzel, who is chained up inside her tower once again with a gag over her mouth. The rest of the room is dark, and there is no telling what else is in there and awaits her.
All three friends in trouble. And not all of them can be rescued.
"Choose wisely." Pitch cackled, turning around and slowly walking around each portal.
"We can't save them all..." Eugene sighed.
"No," Jack agreed. "But we have to save them."
Eugene nodded. "It seems to me that out of the three of them, Merida needs the most help. I think that Hiccup will be okay for now, and Rapunzel could use some help as well."
"We split up?" Jack asked.
Eugene nodded. "Just...make sure you don't die."
Jack gave a small laugh. "You don't have to worry about me, Eugene. Make sure that you don't die."
Eugene nodded, before jumping through Rapunzel's portal. As soon as he was through, it disappeared, leaving Jack alone with Pitch. He took a running start and jumped through Merida's portal.

Jack came out of the portal to find himself in the same spot he had joined Merida and Rapunzel with Hiccup. The same giant rocks all around in a circle, that for some reason reminded him of Stonehenge.
Mor'du was holding Merida down, getting closer to her face. Elinor struggled against the ropes that held her down, desperately trying to reach her daughter. Jack watched for a second, knowing that by the time Elinor got to Merida, it would be too late.
He kicked off the ground and sped to the giant bear, sending ice from his staff and at the bear, managing to throw it off Merida. Merida's eyes grew wide and she sat up, just as Jack touched the ground.
"Y-you-"
"We can save all of the insults and compliments for later," Jack said, holding out a hand to help Merida up. "As of right now, we have bigger problems to deal with."
Merida took Jack's hand and got up, nodding as she took out another arrow and lined it up with her bow. Mor'du growled at Jack, and for some reason, Jack found that he could understand the beast.
Spirit of Winter, It growled. You have no idea what fate awaits you, or your friends.
Jack frowned. "Whatever fate it is, I am willing to take it."
A strange noise bubbled up in the monster's throat, as though it was laughing. Better to accept it now than to wait. Now, stay put while you die.
