Chapter 18
"So, are you two going to be a thing now, or what?" Merida asked.
Jack and Rapunzel each exchanged glances, grinning largely. "Perhaps." Jack answered, taking Rapunzel's hand in his own.
"Well, Hiccup is going to have a lot to catch up on when we get back, huh?" Rapunzel asked, grinning.
"Yup," Jack nodded. "I can't wait to see his face when-" Suddenly, he stopped both talking and walking.
"Jack?" Rapunzel asked. "What is it?"
"There's someone over there." He said, starting to run off to the person that he saw. Once over there, they found that it was a blonde girl crumpled in the ground. Her arm was obviously broken, and blood was spattered on her clothes. Rapunzel gasped, dropping down to her knees. "Astrid?" Jack asked.
Slowly, Astrid's eyes opened. "Hm? Who is it?"
"I'm Jack Frost," Jack said. "This is Rapunzel, Merida, and Sandman. We're all friends of Hiccup."
"Hiccup," Astrid turned her head to the side a little bit. "Did we win?"
Jack nodded. "Yeah, and we're going to get you back to Berk. It's going to be alright, Astrid."
Astrid shook her head. "No," She answered. "I don't think that I want to."
Merida frowned. "Why not?"
"It's too late. If you want, you can take my body back to Berk."
Rapunzel felt tears in her eyes. "I can heal you," She said. "My tears, they have healing powers."
"Don't waste them on me," Astrid shook her head weakly. "I want to accept my fate."
Jack place his hand on Rapunzel's shoulder. "We'll tell Hiccup about what you did today, Astrid."
Astrid smiled weakly. "Thank you." And with that, she closed her eyes, and moved no more.
Not being able to control her tears any more, Rapunzel began to cry. Merida looked at Astrid with sadness in her eyes, Jack crouched down and slid his arms around Rapunzel, and Sandy looked to Astrid sadly. Silence came across them all, the only sound Rapunzel's sobs and the wind. "Shhh," Jack hugged Rapunzel tighter.
Then, another amazing thing happened that day.
The moon, though it wasn't night, decided that Astrid deserved another chance. It began to glow brightly, right on top of Astrid's body. Slowly, it began to rise in the air, with everyone else watching in awe. It glowed multiple different colors, before gently touching the ground again. Slowly, Astrid opened her eyes, revealing purple orbs. Her body had multiple different colored feathers on her skin, with some coming out her back as though it was a dress. Blinking a few times, she suddenly turned her head to look at the moon.
"Astrid?" Jack asked.
Astrid turned back to Jack, smiling brightly. "Um, hi!" She greeted. "I'm alive! That is so amazing! I don't believe it!"
"Can you stand?"
"Y-yeah, I think so!" Astrid began to stand up, before wings on her back began to fly, making her hover in the air. They moved so fast, they looked as though they were humming bird wings.
"You look very beautiful," Rapunzel told her, smiling.
"R-really?" Astrid asked.
"Astrid-" Jack began.
"No, not Astrid. It's Toothiana now. Or, Tooth, if you want."
"Toothiana?" Merida asked.
She nodded. "Yep. I'm the Tooth Fairy!"
