I walked through the doors of HQ with a plate of cookies in my hand. This was a normal thing for me to do, mom would teach me how to make something new and I would go through HQ giving all our agents one.
Our Head Quarters was about half a mile undergrounds and my Father happened to be the Head of the entire agency.
"Hey Beverly." The lady at the front desk greeted me and I smiled in return.
"Hello Nancy, do you want a cookie?" I asked holding up the plate. She raised her eyebrow and smiled back at me.
"What did your mother teach you today?" She asked in a questioning tone. I tilted my head and held out the plate.
"You know the rules, eat first ask later." I said and pushed it towards her a little more. She gave in and took one, taking a bite.
"Mm, earthquake cookies." She said and I grinned. "Amazing. Give my props to your mother." I nodded and grinned before turning towards the doors again.
"Dad in a meeting?" I asked and she nodded.
"He should be getting out like now." I pushed through another set of doors headed down the hallway.
I emerged into the main area of HQ where all the busy bees were working. It was like a bee hive in here, like you would see in all the movies. We had our computer guys who did all the technical work and then we had the agents who actually went out and did the work. My entire family was in the Agency and hopefully one day I would be. The problem was we didn't have any female agents because my father believed that they wouldn't be as effective as the men. I considered him a sexist asshole but I couldn't argue, he was my father.
"Hello Beverly." Winter said sitting at his desk. "What ya got there?"
"Your allergic to chocolate Dave, cant have you dying on me." I grinned and he pouted. Dave was really cool, all the guys were. They have been around my entire life, watching me grow up, they were my family. This entire agency was my family.
"Bev!" Laken shouted from the other side of the room. I raised my hand and waved to him to come over.
"Here pass these around." I said handing the plate to Kyle who nodded and began passing them around the hive. I danced over to Laken, my older brother. "Wassup bro?" I grinned.
"What are you doing here? I thought today you were with mom?" He asked and I shrugged.
"We finished early, and I finished my homework and my chores, figured Id come down here and see everyone." I jumped on one of the desks and grabbed a cookie off the plate.
My life was complicated. Let me break it down to you.
My father was the head of the Foreign Allies Protection Project, which basically meant whenever the government took someone from another country for safety reasons, the agency takes them and keeps them safe while the rest of the agents took care of the problem. Which meant that my father was often not home, since he was taking care of business in other countries. My brother Laken was an agent, he was made an agent strictly here in the U.S once he turned eighteen two months ago and he had already been on like five missions.
I however was stuck in high school until I was old enough to convince my dad to let me be an agent. Until then my entire life was on a strict schedule.
Nobody knew who my parents were. Since my father dealt with a lot of bad people when I was born my last name was changed to protect me while I was growing up. However that didn't mean my father was going to let me grow up without being able to defend myself. Since I was four I had been in lessons and classes on how to fight and when I turned eight my father began to put me into training to fight like all the other agents. They were all recruited young and taught until they were a certain age and were able to sent out into the field. I was just like another agent except no one knew I had ties to my family.
Even in my school, Laken never spoke to me in school, never acknowledged me, and he wasn't supposed to, no one could suspect that I was related to him. He already had rumors flying around about him that he was in a gang or some shit and it was better to keep me safe. Which was probably why my life was such a living hell at school.
I was fluent in three different languages, French, Spanish and German. I was currently learning Russian and how to cook. While I was in school I had so many side classes and lessons that my head was ready to explode with information.
My mother thought it was important that I be raised like a regular teen as well however her idea of that is me learning how to cook and clean and "Keep your man happy" which I thought was bullshit. I wanted to be an Agent like Laken, but that wasn't going to happen for another year or so. Until then, I'm stuck wearing fake glasses and getting teased in high school, living hell for teens.
"Well dad and I are headed up for dinner here soon we just have someone to interview and review cases for." He said and I nodded finishing my cookie.
"Okay fine ill go back upstairs." I grumbled and jumped off the desk. "Are we still carpooling to school tomorrow?" I grinned and he rolled his eyes.
"Beverly, you ask me that everyday and everyday the answer is the same."
"Cool pick me up at 7:30" I winked and headed back out the doors as he chuckled to himself.
I didn't want to go back to school tomorrow.
