My joyful feeling didnt last all that long. As soon as I got back into the class and saw Nadine throw herself at Wren, my mood simmered. It wasnt completely gone, but I hated to see her throw her arms around him and cry as if anything was actually going to happen to her.
Wren didnt make eye contact with me after that, I assume he knew i was mad at her. I was really hoping she would have been more mad at him than crying and blubbering in his arms. I refused to let it completely ruin my day however, tonight was the game, my first ever football game. I hope it was as interesting as the movies make it sound otherwise this was going to be a complete letdown.
The end of the day bell finally rang and I was free. I made my way out of the school where I was supposed to be meeting Dylan so the squad could go over the routine again. It also gave the rest of the girls time to gawk at all the football players as they got ready for the big game.
"Hey babe." Dylan greeted with a grin as I approached her.
"Hey, ready to do this?"
"I should be asking you that, it is your first game ever." She beamed as I laughed, nodding.
"I think I can handle it." I joked. If i could take down guys twice my size, I could handle a high school football game I thought.
If only I knew how wrong I was.

The lights were super bright and shone down on your face so you couldn't see anyone in the crowd. It was great and I was loving it. The cheers we were doing during the beginning of the game, it wasnt until half time that we actually got to go out and perform on the field.
We were winning by at least forty four points, the other team apparently sucked because according to Laken, our team sucked as well.
We were at the end of the first quarter when Dylan blew her whistle and we all ran up to her. "Okay, we get second quarter off to run around and get food it gives you about fifteen minutes. Be back here five minutes before half time so we can line up and be prepared." She said as we all nodded. I didnt know we got any time off, I figured we did this throughout the entire game.
I didnt waste time though, i wanted to go check my phone to see how things were going on at home. Dad was gone tonight for a short one night mission and it was super close to home. I was on edge, nothing was ever this close to us.
I grabbed my cell phone and saw no messages and sighed, nothing was a good sign at least. Everyone from the school was here tonight, wandering around the track and parking lot. I had decided to run out to my car to get a water bottle so I wouldnt have to pay for one when I notices Nadine walking towards me.
I groaned and picked up my pace, heading towards my car. Where was Wren, shouldnt be be babysitting her? I reached my car and not a second later I was grabbed. Nadine grabbed a hold of my shoulder and shoved me against my car with a hiss.
"Ow," I hissed back. "What the hell Nadine, what do you want?"
"Stay the hell away from Wren." She fired, anger plain on her face. "I know he ran to find you during the lockdown today. I dont know what you have planned but he is mine, got it. He already asked me to homecoming and I wont have some know it all piece of trash ruin this for me. Understood?" She snorted out through gritted teeth.
Her breathe smelt of alcohol and it suddenly became apparent to me that she was drunk. I didnt know how I didnt notice before, maybe she was a really stable drunk?
"Nadine, I am not trying to steal Wren, keep him for all I care." I said in a bored manner. i wasn't going to go back and forth on this. I knew where I stood and if she wanted to stay naive then fine.
