I jumped out of the shower and quickly put on makeup and blow dried my hair, not bothering to go all out. Wren said yes to going with me, which was good because If he didn't I would be going alone. I imagine he would have been there anyways but I mean at least now I have a date.
I finished with my makeup and began looking at clothes. Why was I getting so dressed up, it was just dinner with mom and Wren, I could literally wear sweatpants and my mother wouldn't care.
But Wren? I had to admit he was unbelievably attractive. But, nothing could possibly happen between us, I always swore not to date Dads agents, that was my rule. I couldn't possibly break that rule.
I was almost ready as I threw on shorts and a black bralette throwing a white T-shirt over it. Simple enough that he would think I just threw it on yet cute. I heard the doorbell ring and I practically sprinted trying to get to the door in time, before mom did.
I made it just in time. "I got it!" I yelled to my mom who was probably on her way in here. I opened the door to see Wren dressed casually in jeans and a White T-shirt as well. When he saw me he smirked.
"We match."
"Well one of us is gonna have to change." I joked.
"Probably the one of us that lives here." He said chuckling as I stepped to the side so he could come in.
"You could borrow some of my clothes. I have a sundress that would look simply darling on you." Teasing I pushed him back as he laughed more. Hearing him laugh put a smile on my face. I couldn't like Wren, not like that. I wasn't mentally stable enough to get myself into that life and it would put a permanent target on my back for Nadine and her evil minions.
"Well are you going to let him in?" My mom asked coming into the room. I smiled and nodded as I closed the door.
"Mom, Wren. My babysitter. Babysitter this is my mom." I said dryly as Wren laughed.
"Nice to meet you." Wren said holding out his hand.
"Pleasure." My mother said shaking his hand. "The kitchen is through here." She said and turned away. I grabbed Wrens arm and pulled him over quickly.
"I'm sorry in advance." I said and he chuckled grabbing my hand.
"If I'm taking you to a ball is tradition that I meet your parents."
"Well my dads gonna be a bit harder to impress." I teased as he rolled his eyes.
"Sure."
I took a seat in my usual seat and my mother took hers. Wren took a seat next to me and winked at me while my mother wasn't looking. What a prick. I couldn't help but smile and turn my head away.
God dammit why is he cute.
"You have a lovely home Mrs. Collins" Wren said being polite.
"You don't have to be nice Wren." I said taking a drink of my wine in front of me as Wren picked his up. We always served wine when we had company for dinner, my mother trusted me and it was never more than a glass, she never let us have more than a glass. "She already knows we are sleeping together." I said in a serious tone.
Wren almost spit out his wine when I said that. It took him a second to swallow before he turned to my mom. I tried so hard not to laugh. "She's kidding." He said completely serious. My mother looked at him and then me and smiled.
"I know Wren, don't worry I know my daughters sense of humor." My mother got me and it was great. She protested my inappropriate jokes at first but after like the first year she got over it and found them funny.
