Chapter 24
❇ Ava Johnson ❇
"I'm not jealous." I defended walking behind Austin all the way to his car. "Are you sure?" He asked wiggling his eyebrows.
"Yes, I'm sure." I stubbornly admitted.
"Then why did you try to break my trophy? Four times if I may add." He asked again, this time waving his trophy in my face.
I breathed in and closed my eyes. 'And the male sibling challenge winner is... Austin Johnson. The best dressed and expression!' The judges announced.
I thought that if Austin won the male side, I'll win the female side because we're siblings. But I didn't, some ninth grader won she was dressed as an Egyptian. What the heck does an Egyptian have anything to do with the 1980's theme?
The hell.
So, yeah. I am kind of jealous of Austin right now. He already has more medals and trophies than me that he keeps in his trophy case in his room.
"Shut up, these are the last few days we have the house to ourselves. So please don't kill my happiness today." I told him pulling out my headsets. Time for ignoring him and listening to music.
Shit.
I couldn't find my phone. Where did I leave it? It was in my bag the whole time and then after math I put it in my locker because my phone could get confiscated if seen by a teacher. But it isn't in my locker because I took it out before coming to the car.
It so fell out. I mentally facepalmed myself for being so 'resposible'.
I guess I can't ignore him anymore.
"Austin my phone fell out. I need to find it." I whined grabbing his arm and pulling him back to the school doors.
"Why aren't you holding it? When last were you holding it?" He asked clearly annoyed. "From my locker, then in the hallway." I responded.
He sighed.
We walked in and walked towards my locker, searching everywhere for an aqua blue covered phone.
"It's hopeless, they probably stole it. You know that if someone saw it they wouldn't even flinch before taking it." He reasoned.
Stole? Someone? Taking? Huh?
"This can't be happening, please call it and maybe someone will answer." I begged.
"Urgh, you owe me a solid." He groaned before taking out his phone.
"Thanks Austie." I cooed walking to his car again. He rolled his eyes. "It's ringing, still ringing. It went to voicemail." He ushered.
I felt like crying. All the photos and memories in that phone are not the ones a person would want to loose. Now I have to prepare a five minute long speech that my mom will buy when I tell her that my phone is stolen.
We got into his car and I looked at him in my best puppy face. "What now?" He groaned.
I looked at his phone and dangled my headsets in his face. He simply stared at me. He stared at me in a bored expression.
"Please?" I asked.
"No, we're not even out of the school yet. We're almost the only people here." He simply stated.
He started the car.
I was now irritated. I let the tears fall and wiped them off quickly as I saw someone tapping on the window. Jack, he's smiling.
