Chapter 46

Y/N POV

The water calmed and the crickets quieted, the only sound in my ears was the sound of his heart. A sound I grew to love. His warm breaths tickled my shoulder as we lied on a blanket a few feet from the embers of the fire. The sky was glowing with stars and the moon quietly sat in the night sky, looking at us. I felt as if we were the only two people left in the world, and we can be free of worry and pain, but I knew in the morning I'd have to return to that room, with all of those doctors and nurses staring at me, inspecting me. And we'd be apart again.

"I wish we didn't have to go back." I said softly.

"Me too." He said kissing the top of my head. The silence grew.

"Why were you smiling like that earlier? What were you thinking?" he asked.

"That this is the guy I'm going to marry, and spend the rest of my life with."

"Aww." He said pulling my waist closer. I looked up at him, the moon casts shadows on his cheeks, showing that his face was slightly red. He had one arm behind his head, and the other wrapped around my waist. His eyes were looking up at the sky. I smiled and kissed his cheek. He smiled widely and looked down at me. 

"You are a wonder." He said to me.

"What do you mean?" 

"I mean it's a wonder how a person can love another person as much as I love you."

"Awwwww." I said, hiding my face in his chest.

"Don't hide your beautiful face." He said, lifting up my chin, so I was looking straight into his eyes. Slowly he placed his lips on mine, and slowly, I fell asleep.
