They are both competitive people

In the season 2 episodes there were two times that this was noticed first they both became the sidekicks in the faith vs Rick boys vs girls cake challenge Jody at first was concerned that they wasn't practicing making a cake but faith assures her they have it in the bag and Tyler does everything he can to make sure that they don't lose including staying up to bake a cake during the night

And then in the episode where the house was divided into teams of what they would be watching Saturday night the two were on opposing teams Jody on football and Tyler on a talent show Tyler got himself eliminated early so he could use it as a way of getting rid of the opposing team. He got Frank by food and even used jodys fear of being trapped against her by locking her in the bathroom (obviously it could have been anyone to use the bathroom next) which when jody got out almost killed him for it the two would then convince Harry and floss and Jody went so far as to setting of the fire alarm.

Carmen's mentioned jody is very competitive especially when she doesn't win the games in stepping up jody is determined to get one over on Carmen.

When the two teamed up in season 4 episode 8 because Tyler was going up against floss in the election for forem rep. Tyler was disappointed after everything that he may still lose to floss in the end though Tyler did win.
