So before the whole floss and wedding set up Tyler had already asked jody to the care dinner and Jody had originally said yes to going as Tyler's 'date'
So when floss asks Tyler who he's taking to the dinner Tyler says

Meaning theirs no contest
So while they make up and Jody Hints about the care dinner (and obviously she still wants to be Tyler's 'date' plus one Tyler makes sure she feels comfortable in still wanting to go with him after everything he says if we want to prove that boys and girls can just be friends
