Throughout the episode both jody and Tyler are trying to work hard in order to make sure that they are both in eachothers lives with Tyler possibly leaving

Tyler - After knowing he messed up in not texting her after the meeting he spots her getting closer to Ryan along with Bailey and finn and the pool table to which Tyler tries to stop with asking her to come with him to see his new bedroom showing he still wants her in his life

Plus and we all hate Tyler's mum in this episode for one reason or maybe two

When his mum tells him she's planning a party for his birthday the next day Tyler asks for jody to come so even after they had their disagreement in Tyler coming back to the dumping ground with her she's still on his mind (see Connected even when apart 😉😍)
But his mum turns the idea down and Tyler's gutted about that then his mum says the line I just want it to be us to make up for all the birthdays I've missed

Next morning and the neighbours Sally!!! Couldn't have his best friend there!!!

Anyhow

With jody although he didn't come back with her she still thinking about him and the fact its his birthday and wanting to do something nice for him and fires at everyone else when they first turn down in helping her with the party

And even though Sally wasn't nice to jody she turns it away because Tyler means a lot to her and she knows how much his mum means to Tyler and invites her to their party 😍
