Chapter 8
March 2
“Daren, I said no.” Trystan growled.
“Aw, come on! You know you want to!” Julian smiled, showing his white teeth.
“I said no. What the Hell of a question is that to ask?” Trystan said.
Kyle smiled, “I thought it was a great question! According to a few rumors from the school you go to . . . Why is it that the leader of BL is a high school senior?” Kyle wondered.
Trystan cracked his knuckles. “Maybe I should remind you” he offered. Kyle raised his hands and shook his heads.
“Not know, big guy. You should bring her though.” Daren stepped in.
“Why would I want to bring my girlfriend to Florida’s most notorious gang so she could meet them?” Trystan asked loudly. The guys shrugged.
“Who knows, maybe she’ll like it.” Kyle grinned. Trystan started forward.
“C’mon guys. Really?” Jasmine asked. Everyone smiled.
“Jas, what are you doing here?” Trystan asked.
“Looking for Jules. Mom wants him home.” Julian groaned loudly.
“Really?” he asked, she smiled and nodded.
Jasmine was fifteen, everyone loved her. She was like the jewel of the gang. No one messed with Jasmine unless they wanted to die.
Suddenly Trystan’s phone buzzed in his back pocket. He pulled it out, examining the number he’d never thought he’d see this day or any other.
“Victoria? Why are you calling me?” he asked.
“It’s Arelie.” She whispered. Trystan stopped cold. What about Arelie?
“What do you mean?” he asked slowly.
“S-she, oh God.” Tori broke then. “She’s been in a car accident.”
Trystan’s heart stopped beating. All the guys were looking at him now.
“Trys?” Daren asked. Trystan’s fist clenched the phone.
“Where?” He asked.
“JFK hospital . . .” she trailed. Trystan had already made his way to his car. He yanked it open, crying . . . something he hadn’t done in ten years.

She’s in critical condition.
Those words hit Trystan like a bomb.
What happened? Is she ok? Where is she? Who hit her?
All those questions he asked as soon as he got there. Victoria had patiently waited until he calmed down to tell him that Arelie was in a coma and the guy who hit her was doing time in jail. Apparently the guy who had hit her ran a red light and collided with her as she was driving.
Trystan had been so blinded with rage that he punched the wall and made a whole.
“Oh God,” he cried. Victoria was also torn with emotions. Arelie had been a real friend to her, more of a friend than anyone could be. She made Tori happy to be her friend.
“I . . .” Trystan trailed, and then left. Tori watched as he calmly left, leaving her in the waiting area.

“Trystan . . .” Trystan was wallowing in his sorrows – as a way to put it. Elie had been sleeping for five days now. It was Wednesday and he was sitting at Elie’s bed side. He had missed Monday for her. But when she had not awakened he decided that being in the hospital was not going to bring her back. He had to get back into life.
But he couldn’t, not without her.
He loved her, he even told her so that night. Was it really almost a week ago? It felt as it had been months . . . years!
“Trystan.”
He couldn’t imagine what he would’ve done if he had never met her. Probably make him act more of a jerk. He needed her to get up, to come back to him. He needed her to be able to say those three words to him again. To see her beautiful eyes light up and see her smile.
“Trystan!” Trystan snapped his head up and looked at the girl on his mind. It took him a while to realize that Elie was awake; looking at him wide-eyed. Suddenly a grin slipped onto his face and he crushed her into his arms.
Arelie gasped and laughed.
“Trystan . . .stop.” Elie giggled. Trystan moved away a little bit but didn’t let go.
“Oh God, Elie.” Trystan groaned. “I thought I had lost you. When Victoria called me . . . and when I heard . . .”
“Shh, it’s ok Trystan. I’m here.” Elie soothed. She looked around the room as Trystan gripped her hand.
“How much do you remember?” he asked quietly.
“I remember hitting my head. That’s it.” she answered, wincing slightly as she moved it. Trystan put a hand to her cheek.
“I love you,” he said, kissing her on the lips. Elie just stared at him, confused for a minute. Then the room burst with doctors and friends and family.
“Arelie O’Neil, I’m going to give you Hell for what you did.” Tori shouted, Elie winced.
“Ah, how are you Miss O’Neil?” a man with light brown hair asked, Elie assumed that he was her doctor.
“My head hurts.” Elie replied honestly. The man nodded.
“That’s normal. Does everything feel fine? Can you move your hand for me?” The man requested. Elie looked down and noticed a small cast on her left arm.
“What happened?” Elie asked.
“You broke your arm.” The doctor answered.
“Is that why it’s burning?” she asked, the doctor shook his head.
“No. Your arm was ripped open in the crash, seventy nine stitches.” The doctor frowned slightly, “The burning should go away soon. Other than those injuries, you should be fine. For the head, you bashed it against the window and slightly cracked your skull. We were able to repair it before other damages happened.
I’m Doctor Gunner, by the way.” Doctor Gunner held his hand out and Elie shook it.
“Arelie!” Elie turned to see her Aunt Bea run into the room. Bea pulled Elie into her arms and sobbed. “Oh, I thought you were gone. I got a phone call from Doctor Gunner, I rushed back home immediately on the next flight!”
“I’m fine, Bea, really.” Elie assured.
“Good. You’re going to tell me now about why I had to be introduced to your secreted boyfriend . . .”
