Chapter 9
March 9
Arelie gazed out of Trystan’s car window. Trystan had picked her up today to go somewhere, but he wouldn’t tell her. He seemed uneasy and unsure about it, too.
Arelie started to worry. Did Trystan not want to be with her anymore?
Oh God, she thought, please help me!
After the doctors had run a few more tests on Wednesday and Thursday they finally let her go on Thursday night. Trystan had driven her home that night and stayed over. He held her in his arms for the whole night, calming her and keeping her at ease.
When Bea had demanded that she explain the suddenness of Trystan in Arelie’s life, Elie had been struck dumb – literally. But Bea had been serious, she was obviously upset about not being let in before Trystan and Elie started dating.
Elie explained that it had only been about a few weeks, maybe three at the most. After a bit of assurance and arguing, Bea finally let down a little and accepted Arelie’s relationship with Trystan Levi.
She first started out interrogating him, making him uncomfortable every time he stepped into their house. Trystan tried to overcome it but somehow Bea brought out awkward feelings in him.
He’d never had to deal with it before though, he just used to f*ck girls and leave. Not date them.
“Can you please tell me where we’re going?!” Elie groaned, Trystan laughed at her impatience.
“Just wait,” Trystan smiled.
Elie was still thinking about her father. He had texted her right before the car crash, saying that he was watching her, waiting for her to come to him. Elie shivered at the thought of her father touching her with anything other than fatherly affection.
How could he be so sick? So vile? So nasty?
Arelie left her thoughts to the back of her mind. She wanted to be with Trystan, be with him in this moment. She didn’t want to think about her father, about life without Trystan.
“We’re here.” Trystan grinned. Elie shook herself from her thoughts to see a nice secluded house in the front of the car. It was obviously very expensive. It was a two story bedroom with a three car garage. Tori’s house was a few blocks away.
“This is where you live?” Elie asked, Trystan nodded. He took her hand in his and let out an uneasy sigh. Why was he acting so unsure of himself? Where is the Trystan I know?
“Trystan . . . Will you tell me what’s going on?” she whispered, Trystan acted like he didn’t hear her. Instead he flung open his front door and dragged her in beside him.
Suddenly a bunch of guys surrounded them. Maybe nine of them in all.
They were all huge, muscled and good looking. Arelie warily stepped back into Trystan as they all grinned at her, looking oddly excited.
Arelie couldn’t say the same for her. What was going on? Why is Trystan just standing there looking weird and awkward? Elie wondered.
“Hi there, beautiful” a boy with dark brown hair smiled, Arelie didn’t know if he could even be called a child!
“Um . . .” Elie stammered.
“Don’t get up on her like that, Daren! You’re scaring her!” another boy said, Daren scoffed and turned back to Elie.
“As if. All girls love me.” Daren said confidently, “You’re jealous Kyle, because I met her first.”
“Shut up, Dare.” Kyle, the same boy, shouted back to him.
“Daren, Kyle, don’t start fighting in front of her!” an older person scolded.
“Oh, C’mon Jules! We’re just messing around.” Daren complained.
Arelie back further into Trystan and looked up at him. Trystan smiled slightly at the expression on her face. He bent his ear to her so she could speak to him.
“Who are they, Trystan? Why are you just standing there?” Arelie asked with a slight glare.
Trystan chuckled, getting everyone’s attention; he looked at the crowd of boys. “Arelie . . . meet my gang, Blood Lust.”
