Chapter 10
Arelie gazed up at Trystan in shock. He couldn’t possibly be serious! Could he?
“G-gang?” she stammered at him. He gave her a smirk. How could he joking about something like this?
“It’s ok. They won’t hurt you?” He assured.
Of course! Arelie thought dryly, I’d be worried about them harming me when I’ve got a boyfriend who was – excuse me, in – a gang!
Elie looked back at the gang of boys – literally. She was, at the moment, speechless.
“Well . . . we know we’re pretty handsome, but speechless? My ego just boosted.” Someone joked, Kyle, maybe.
Trystan sent him a warning glance. Arelie just stood there for a few moments and then calmly, as if this happened everyday, walked out of the room and outside. She stood by the car, trying to open it, but to no avail.
She was going to start walking when she heard Trystan shout her name. She was, then, trying to decide if she could make a break for it without him catching up to her.
“Arelie!” Trystan yelled. Guessing she could not, she patiently waited until he was beside her. “Elie, I know this is sudden-”
“Sudden? Sudden.” Arelie laughed humorlessly, “Are you kidding me? Seriously now . . . I come out of the hospital, after a serious car crash – that almost cost me my life – and here it is, my boyfriend ‘surprises’ me by telling me that he’s in a gang. Sudden is an understatement.”
“I was going to tell you!” Trystan protested.
“BS.” Arelie said, “Open the damn car.”
“No.” Trystan said, “Not until you hear me out.”
“Wow, Kidnapping and ‘sudden surprises’ all in one day. Sh*t Trystan, don’t you seem jumpy today?” Arelie asked sarcastically.
“Shut up! Arelie. I’m trying to friggin' explain my self!” he growled.
Arelie was momentarily shocked, but then she realized who she was talking to – Trystan Levi – rumored to be in a gang, but who knew that rumor would be so true?
“I’m done with this, Trystan. I’m done with you’re BS.” Elie said, walking away.
“Where the Hell do you think you’re going?” Trystan shouted after her.
“Oh shit, Trystan, are you my mom too? Well I’ve got news for you, asshole, and my mom’s dead. So stop trying to act like you care! No, don’t talk; because you’re just going to give me excuses, you don’t give a damn about me! You never goddamn did! I’m tired of you trying to care, you got what you wanted, now leave me the Hell alone!” she screamed.
“Stop walking away, Arelie, you’re not even listening to what I have to say! Arelie, dammit, stop!” Trystan tried to go after her, but he realized that she was too far away. “Dammit!” he yelled. He went back to his car trying to catch up to her.
But by the time he got there, Arelie was nowhere to be seen. Trystan got out of the car and tried to find her, but he couldn’t.
He started to get a bad feeling. Where the Hell did she go? She couldn’t have disappeared that fast!
He was starting to worry, and the worry started to overwhelm him. He decided that maybe she jogged home. He went to her house, not explaining to the guys.
He should have never done this, should have never brought her there. He was so afraid that she would react like this; he went over the speed limit, trying to figure out, to make sure that she was there and safe. The cops were right next to him, but one look at his face must have stopped them from stopping him.
They most likely would mail the ticket to his house, or give some type of warning.
He got to her house, he wasn’t sure if he should just walk in, would Elie’s aunt be in there? He decided to knock on the door, maybe someone would answer. Their car would likely be in the garage. Right?
After ringing the doorbell twice and knocking five – loud – times, he chose to just go inside. The keys were in a hole hovering over the door. He opened the door wide and bellowed Arelie’s name. Hoping to get some kind of response to show she was there.
“Arelie!” he yelled again.
There was no answer.
He bounded up the stairs to her room, hoping that she would be in there, just trying to ignore him, trying to drain him out. But when he got upstairs her door was open, and there was no one inside, it was still the same way she left it from this morning.
Oh God, he thought.
WHERE IS SHE?!
