Chapter 12

Trystan arrived ten minutes later. Even though it had been an hour since they fought, he looked horrible. He already looked worn out. Elie hopped into the passenger seat warily.

They drove in silence for a while before Trystan broke the silence.

“I’m sorry.” He said, Elie turned to look at him and saw that every single emotion that Trystan felt right now was on his face, baring him to her. It was shameless and tender. Elie’s heart broke with it.

“I’m sorry, too. I shouldn’t have freaked it was . . .-”

“It’s my fault, Arelie. I should’ve just told you in advance and then let you decide about us from there. I was . . . I just; I didn’t want to keep hiding it from you longer.”

“I know, Trystan. I was  . . . an idiot. I should’ve let you explain. I’m sorry; I was just shocked and hurt. I didn’t want you to be in a gang. I knew there were signs, but I refused to believe it.” Elie whispered. Trystan had stopped in front of her house. He turned to Elie and hugged her. Pulling her to him.

“You had no choice but to be shocked. I was a complete ass. I should’ve done this with more care.” He pulled back, running a hand through his black hair. “I’m just . . . use to doing this on my own, not really thinking about other people. Just, in the moment.”

“I know. It wasn’t easier for me either. I was totally new to this, and I . . . it was hard too.” Elie confessed. Trystan nodded. They stayed like that, in silence, for a few minutes before Elie turned to him and spoke. “I’m going to go now.”

Trystan snapped his gaze to her. Hurt in his eyes. Elie tried not to feel guilty. She had to do this, get a little space from everything that was going on. She knew he would understand; she hoped he would.

“I just think, I think we need a break, Trystan. This is so overwhelming right now. Everything in my life is . . . upside down. I just need a little time to process this.” Elie explained.

Trystan was silent for a long time. Elie decided that he was probably waiting for her to get out. She reached for the handle and got out. Before she could close the door, though, Trystan stopped her.

“I understand. I’m here, though, Elie. I always will be.” Trystan said softly. Elie nodded curtly. If she stayed any longer she’d beg Trystan to forgive her, to love her like he said he did. But she couldn’t. She pushed the door close and walked to her front door, unlocking it and stepping in.

She closed the door behind her and heard Trystan back out of the drive-way and leave. Perhaps not forever, but for a while. Until she called him back.

Arelie trudged upstairs, and sat on her bed. Everything started rushing to her in a blink of an eye. Everything seemed to overwhelming now. Trystan and her’s relationship, her father, her mother, school, the students and teachers, her aunt, Tori . . . it was all too much!

She cried like she never had before, she hated her life right now. Everything was in turmoil, even her attempted-normal relationship with Trystan!

Why did this have to happen to her?

Extremely short. And I'd understand if you didn't comment at all ... but, please??? PRETTY PLEASE??

Love, Anna!
