Christmas had come and gone.

New York Eve was upon us and Alexei's and Cat siblings were still at Manor.

Alexei had left the morning of Christmas Day and had spend the rest of the day somewhere else, leaving Cat alone.

She had heard the name Isabelle as his siblings left and Cat knew that he had been the rest of day with her.

Cat would be a fool to say that she wasn't jealous. Because she was mad that her mate was spending one of the most important days in her mind with someone else.

She wondered what was so special about her that he even ditched his family for her.

Slowly both of Cat's siblings and Alexei's siblings had left the manor.

Her internal alarm clock had woken her up at four, having noting to do Cat went to work out and take a run.

It would be her last work out of twenty seventeen and Cat couldn't help but feel nostalgic about how far she had come along mentally and physically.

But the intense work out had made her exhausted.

Peeling off her work out clothes, she stepped into the cold shower. The feeling of water hitting her face had always made her feel like she was waking up to a new day.

Like it was washing all of her sins away.

Feeling refreshed after taking a shower, Cat pulled her wet hair in a towel on top of her head. She applied some basic St Ives moisturizer on her face.

Pulling on her undergarments, she wrapped herself in a oversized fluffy robe.

All of the staff had been given a week long holiday because frankly Cat had been sick of being pampered.

She valued her privacy and being independent.

Connecting her phone to the speaker, she played Perfect Duet by Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé and exited the bathroom.

Slipping into a basic black sports bra and fitting black leggings, Cat decided to stay makeup free.

Today would be a good day. After all it was New Years Eve, Cat planned to get wasted. She'd already made Jell-O shots for herself, though all she wanted was to go to a big party.

Her fuzzy socks made it hard to walk on the polished wood floors but fortunately the kitchen wasn't far away.

Cat placed the speaker on the counter and pulled out a pan to make some chocolate chip pancakes for herself.

It was a cold morning but cold mornings meant fog and frost. It was beautiful but chilly.

Lifting the spatula up to put all of the pancakes on the plate, she couldn't feel hungrier.
