When She Was Once Happy

Carnival

           "Hey! Are you going to the carnival?" Natsu looked up from his food to see Gray.
           "What carnival?" He questioned, clueless as ever.
           "Our town's annual harvest festival you dummy!"
             Natsu's mouth widened, "oh yeah..." Natsu thought about it for a moment. "No I don't think I'll be going this year."

    "And whys that?" Gray asked.
     "Well, I'm just not in a party mood," he shrugged. Everything became silent before Gray decided to speak.
         "Is it because of-"
        "No. It's not." Natsu stood up from the bench and started to walk away.
        "Where are you going?" Gray asked as he watched his friend leave.
           Natsu turned around, "to the bathroom...is that alright with you?"
           Gray huffed and Natsu continued to walk.
            "Damnt Lucy. Look what you've done to him." Gray sighed as he took a bite out of his sandwich.

The morning before the festival
-
Knock!

Natsu groaned as he slowly got up from his bed to unlock the door. "Oh its you. What are you doing here?" Natsu questioned, half asleep, while rubbing his eyes. The girls pushed Natsu out of her way and entered the house. "Hey! What do you think you're doing??!" Erza just stared around the room, but then turned her head and darted her eyes at him.
      "You're going to the festival." Erza demanded.
        "I already said I wasn't going!" Natsu said, in an angry tone. Erza sighed.
         "I contacted Lucy." Her name struck Natsu's heart as his eyes widened. "She said she will be there today."
          "Why did you-"
           She smiled so gently and kind, "because we all wanted the old Natsu back."
         Natsu didn't know how to respond so he just averted his eyes and huffed, placing his hands in his pockets, "whatever." But Natsu was overfilled with joy.

         "So where's Lucy?" Natsu asked the group of friends. But everyone's cheerful face became silenced and tried to look away.
          Erza stepped forward and placed her hand on her shoulder, "she couldn't make it." This news angered Natsu as he used his hand to swat away Erza's from his shoulder.
         As he turned around, he grunted, "yeah. Whatever. I'm going for a walk." The group of friends just stared at each other with sadness.

[A/N- this is a really short chapter. You can thank writers block for that. There's a scene coming after this but I didn't want to rush it so that's why I added this chapter. I wish I was able to add more, but I just couldn't think of anything. So the next chapter will be the amazing scene]
