Chapter XXVIII: Luke Skywalker's Last Stand

"A distress signal has been received at multiple points, but no response." Said Lieutenant Connix, looking at the signals from the satellite computer.

"They've heard us." Said Commander D'acy. "But no one's coming."

"We fought to the end." Leia said quietly as she uses her cane to help her sit down. "The galaxy has lost all it's hope, the spark...is out." She said looking down, knowing that the First Order has defeated them all. Leia then senses a presence, seeing a hooded silhouette stepping from the sunlight, walking towards her as he flips the hood over his head. "Luke." She whispered as her brother looks at her, sitting down in front of her. Leia interrupts him before he could say anything. "I know what you're gonna say...I changed my hair."

"It's nice that way." Luke replied. "Leia, I'm sorry." He said emotionally.

"I know." She replied. "I know you are, I'm just glad that you're here, at the end."

"I came to face him Leia." He said. "But I can't save him."

"I held on to hope for so long...I know my son is gone." Said Leia.

"No one's ever really gone." Said Luke, reaching his arm out and holding on to his sisters hand. Leia then feels the golden dice hanging from the Falcon, as it lays on her hand. He then stands up and slowly kisses her on the forehead. He then walks toward the exit of the room as he passes by a familiar face.

"Master Luke." Said C-3PO, as Luke gives him a slight wink and walks out of the room, passing by a hallway of rooms and onto the main corridor of the base. The exit was in flames and he kept walking towards it. Every soldier fighting sees him walk past them, as they looked awestruck seeing Luke Skywalker for the first time. Luke walks past the flames and steps on the salt, seeing a Command Shuttle followed by an army of AT-M6's slowly coming towards him.

"Stop!" Kylo yelled, as the army of walkers stop in front of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, standing in front of the Rebel Base. "I want...every gun we have to fire on that man." Kylo ordered, leaving Hux slightly shocked with his orders, thinking it was madness. "Do it." Said Kylo as a Walker steps forward and shoots at the ground, blowing the red soil away. The walkers then fire at the same spot, creating a bigger explosion. "More!" Kylo ordered, tightly clenching his fists. "MORE!!!" He yelled as more fire power was shot from the walkers.

"That's enough." Said Hux quietly, as Kylo kept watching. "That's enough!" Hux yelled as the Walkers stop firing, Kylo sat on his chair out of exhaustion. "Do you think you got him?" Asked Hux, but Kylo knew not to underestimate his former Master. "Now if we are ready to get moving, we can finish this."

"Sir." Said one of the pilot's, as Kylo stood up, seeing the figure walking out of the explosion. He could see Luke walk away from it without a scratch, as he stops and briefly brushes the dust off his shoulder.

"Bring me down to him." Ordered Kylo. "Keep the door covered and don't advance until I say."

"Supreme Leader, don't get distracted. Our goal-." Hux said but then screams as Kylo force pushes him to the wall of the ship.

"Right away Sir." Said one of the pilot's, as the Shuttle lowers down, folding its wings back up as it lands. The boarding ramp opens with steam coming down as Kylo walks down and heads toward near his former master. He stops, as they face each other. Kylo's cape flowed from the wind, as he looks at his uncle in rage.

"Did you come back to say you forgive me?" Asked Kylo. "To save my soul?"

"No." Luke simply said, as Kylo shrugs the cape off his shoulders and ignites his red blazing cross guarded lightsaber, as Luke ignites a green blade and positions it in front of him. Kylo points his red blade at his uncle, looking at him in rage. They look at each other, waiting to strike.

R2 keeps transmitting something to signal the beacon, after a lot of searching he has a signal. R2 beeps what he knows to Rey, Jacen and Chewbacca, who were sitting in the cockpit.

"If the beacon is right beneath us then they got be somewhere." Rey responded. "Keep scanning for more life forms." She said as Jacen could sense something happening right under them, he could see his father and cousin right under them, holding out their lightsabers, ready to fight. Jacen wanted to find a way down to help his father, but he knows that he can't interfere, this was his Father's fight. They then fly across the mountain and see an avalanche behind it, that was where Rey spots a flock of crystal foxes leaving the mountain. "I see them! Chewie, there!" Rey exclaimed, as the Falcon lands behind the mountain. They have to rescue everyone else before it's too late.
