1st week of school - Monday, 16th August...
School starts early in Seoul, at 8am, and with yesterday night's sleep, I was looking like a zombie, added to that my hair has decided to go extra frizzy wavy. I woke up late too (due to the dream), and when the doorbell rang and I answered it, the fairy four (as I called them since they all act kinda strange) all gasped.
"What happened to you?!" asked Da Ni and Mi Mi simultaneously.
"Couldn't sleep. Stupid next door boys."
They exchanged glances and quickly pushed me back inside.
"We'll fix you", Tae Hee said.
Da Ni had told me that Tae Hee is only shy in front of people that aren't her friends, so she was fairly comfortable with me already. They all pushed me upstairs and into Sun Dae's room, fixing my hair and attempting to apply make-up.
"No! I hate make-up!" I said, desperately trying to push away Soo Jin who was holding the brush.
"Yeah. She doesn't need foundation, her skin's too good for it", commented Tae Hee.
Soo Jin put the brush down and looked at her watch.
"Damn! We're late!! Let's go!!!"
We all quickly ran off. I paused to say good-bye to Mrs. Lee who is a housewife and ran after them, all almost literally flying away. I laughed as I ran, images conjuring in my head. When these girls ran, they looked like fairies. We caught the bus just in time and the four questioned me on last night's incident. They gasped once again when I mentioned the guy named Jae Wook.
"You picked a fight with Jae Wook?!" asked Tae Hee.
"And hurled a ball at him!" exclaimed Soo Jin.
"You're in for it", Mi Mi said shaking her head like I was gonna die.
"Yura", Da Ni said sitting down next to me, "You said you chucked a ball right? Which one?"
I just stared in surprise at such a question
"Uh... the basketball I found in her bedside wardrobe", I replied unsurely.
"Yura", she repeated, "that's Sun Dae's last present she got from her first crush who she found out to be her younger cousin."
She said this with such a serious expression that it took me a while to interpret what she had just said... her last present that she got from her first crush...
"I better get it back then huh?"
They all nodded in a fast simultaneous motion. I understood, that meant I was in big sh1t if I couldn't get it back. Then I remembered who had it, the guy who stopped the ball. The bus stopped and we all got off.
"Who's the house owner?" I asked Tae Hee.
"Shin Dong Wook", replied Soo Jin's voice instantly.
I looked over to her. Tae Hee quickly whispered in my ear.
"Soo Jin has had a crush on him since she was 8."
I nodded.
"He's best friends with the best guy in this school, Park Jae Wook. People call them 'The Wooks'", Mi Mi said.
I burst out laughing.
"The Wooks?"
The fairies nodded.
"And why is that Jae Wook guy the best?" I asked curiously.
"'Cause he's the best-looking, best basketball player and the smartest smartass in this school", replied Da Ni.
