Chapter 26

Catrina's POV

"I leave for gymnastics in an hour." I sigh sitting up. "Can I come?" Jake asks smiling. I nod and get up. I take his hand and drag him out of his house, yelling goodbye to his mom. "You seem happy." He smiles. "I'm trying to distract myself." I sigh. "Good." He smiles. I nod as he kisses my forehead. We arrive at my house to see my mom recording. They decided to continue to vlog. "And Cat's home!" They smile filming me. "Turn the camera's off." I groan going up to my room. My dad looks at me surprised, not expecting this outbreak. I slam my bedroom door and put on my leotard. I put on an oversized hoodie and shoes and walk back to the kitchen. My mom had the camera off and by her side. "I respect the fact that you don't want to be recorded." She sighs. "Thank you." I smile taking an apple out of a bowl and biting it. "But I don't respect your random outbursts of disrespect." I look at her confused. "You're yelling... You can't yell at me and your father because you miss your brother. You can't lash out at your siblings because you miss your brother. You're not the only one who misses Caleb. He was my son." She says as tears fall from her eyes. "Mom." I sigh hugging her. She hugs me back tighter. She sighs and looks at me. "I love you Catrina." She smiles. "I love you too Mom." I smile. Annie and Hayley run downstairs and we all get in the car and drive to gymnastics. My mom records gymnastics and then we go home. "Jake.." I laugh as he picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. He runs me into the kitchen and sits me down. "I want you to record." He says handing me the camera. "Jake I told you." I start but he stops me. "I want you to explain to the views why you aren't going to be in the vlog." He sighs. "You owe your fans that." He rubs my shoulder a little. I nod and sigh. I fix my hair before turning on the camera. "Hey." I smile looking at the camera. "I'm not gonna be in the vlogs for a while. I'm not ok right now. Caleb's death did affect everyone. But I feel it affected me most. I spent my whole life with him. From the moment we were born we were together. I hope you guys understand. It's hard for everyone. Caleb was such a loving soul. He loved everyone. His smile lit up the room..." I stop and pause the video. "Mom.." I start. She looks at me. "Can I tell them.. The... cause?" I ask. She nods. I continue recording. "Caleb died of an undetected heart disease. The same disease the doctors caught when I was having seizures. His went undetected. That's another reason I'm not in the vlogs. The doctors should have tested everyone that day. Should have thought about it being hereditary and the possibility of it happening to someone else." I take a deep breath. "So that's it. I love you guys and I promise to join the vlog soon." I smile blowing a kiss and pausing the video. "I'm proud of you." Jake smiles. "Thanks." I smile. He nods and kisses my forehead. "My mom wants me home soon. See you tomorrow Sunshine." He smiles. "Bye Jake." I laugh waving to him. I go to my room and look around. "Hey mom..." I call. She runs upstairs. "I think it's time to change." I smile looking at the room. She nods. "Dad should be home soon. We can start then." She smiles. I nod and hug her. "Thanks for being a great mom." I smile. "Thanks for being a great daughter." She laughs.
